Charlotte Marshall Obituary

Charlotte Simms
Marshall
1947-2017
After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Charlotte Simms Marshall, 70, joined her late husband, William Harbert Marshall, Sr., in heaven on June 6, 2017. Charlotte was a long-time resident of Houston TX.
Charlotte was born April 8, 1947 in Daytona Beach, FL to Martha and Bernard Simms. She was the third of five children. As a child, Charlotte and her family lived in Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, and Panama. After finishing high school, she attended Loyola University New Orleans, where she received her degree in Education. She taught in New Orleans before eventually moving to Houston where she met her late husband, Bill. Charlotte and Bill were married on November 18, 1974. Bill and Charlotte planted their roots in Houston, TX where they started their family and had 3 children.
Charlotte was a loving mother and an amazing friend to so many people in her community. She loved her family and made clear that whatever was important to them was important to her. She always made time to attend her children's games or recitals and still somehow had the time and energy left to give back and volunteer. She was a very good cook, which all of her friends and family appreciated, and she was very skilled at needle point (honing her skill whenever and wherever she could – sometimes while behind the wheel and waiting at a stoplight). She always had the house decorated to the nines at Christmas and made an awesome chocolate fudge (and biscuits, pies, turkey, mashed potatoes, meat loaf, roast beef, French toast - you name it, she could make it). She loved going to the movies (and shockingly really liked horror movies); enjoyed reading novels (she couldn't sleep without reading); and liked playing tennis with friends. Charlotte was a great teammate; she always loved playing games, especially card games; and she would never miss doing the crossword puzzle (just like her brother Richard). Charlotte was well-rounded, calm and collected and people looked up to her. She was stunningly beautiful but she was even more beautiful on the inside. She was simple and classy and cared about what mattered most, her family and friends. Charlotte was one of a kind and will be missed every single day.
Charlotte is survived by her beloved children, William, David, and Catherine; their wonderful spouses, Angela, Donna, and Nick; her beautiful grandchildren, Lila, Charlie, Cora, Molly, and Billy; her loving siblings B.G., Catherine, and Richard; and of course her incredible friends who have been like family through all of these years.
The service for Charlotte will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:00PM CT at Chapelwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the A.D.A.M.S Association to help the fight to end Alzheimer's at adamsassociation.org.
The fight with Alzheimer's was long and hard to watch, and we want to remember Charlotte and her life before this awful disease. It would mean a lot to her family if you have stories and good memories about Charlotte to share. Please write them and bring them with you to the service, or email them to [email protected], so we can keep them and read them in the future when we are missing her.

I was a classmate of Charlotte at Father Lopez High School in Daytona Beach, FL, class of 1965. I remember Charlotte's beauty also as being both outside and inside. We have remembered her and her family in our thougths and prayers since we first heard of her illness and then that she had died. May God bless all of you. With love & prayers, Karen (Hartman) & Jim Albright

Charlotte was a dear friend over many decades! We first met at Loyola in 1965 when we were both starting off in college - we were in the same class and pledged to the same sorority. She was always smart and fun - and such a beauty. Over the years, we visited in New Orleans, TX, CO and NC! I remember being thrilled when she came to Asheville to help celebrate my wedding and whenever I was performing, telling stories in Houston, we always enjoyed catching up with each others' lives and would instantly fall into this comfortable place of being together. I miss her and she will always hold a place in my heart.
