Chistopher Coit Obituary

CHISTOPHER KEITH COIT, 49, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Tuesday morning, March 14, 2006, while he was at his work. Keith was born July 9, 1956 in Huntsville, Texas, but spent most of his growing-up years in Sugar Land, Texas. He was very active in various activities, especially Boy Scouts of America. He achieved his Eagle Scout award and attended the 13th World Jamboree in Nippon (Japan). Keith graduated from Allen Military Academy, Bryan, Texas, and served in the United States Marine Corps and, later, graduated with a degree in Business Management from the University of St. Thomas, Houston. His love of friends and good food was quite evident during the years that he managed his own restaurant (Big Time Café). Keith is survived by his mother, Betty Coit, of Sugar Land, Texas; father, Harry Coit, of Puyallup, Wa.; half-brothers: Erich, Robert, Harry, Jr., and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends are invited to a visitation with family and friends on Friday, March 17, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2006 in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. Pallbearers include Erich, Robert and Harry Coit, Jr., uncle Robert Harris, and cousins Andy Smith, Burton Smith, James Bailey, Greg Bailey and Mathew Bailey.

Keith was one of the first people Kathryn and I met when we rode into Houston on motorcycles in October, 1980. We were all part of the opening crew for the Pappas' at Circus Restaurant on Westheimer. Keith was one of the few people who befriended us and that continued for over twenty-five years. He supported me when I opened my fist bar, and likewise I sat at Big Time many times myself. Keith was the first to give warm and fuzzies when you were down and a true friend when in need. I shall miss his wit, his smiles and some of his secret recipes. My thoughts are of his family and all the wonderful memories of Keith that they will keep forever in their hearts. I know that Keith has already run into Kathryn. I want them to know that I love them both.

Ebi and I are praying for you, Betty. Although we never met Keith, we can imagine how much this must hurt. We know that the Lord is able to comfort your heart during this time of mourning. (We know this because He helped us go through the loss of our son). You are continuously in our prayers. Please do not try to understand the meaning of his death because it would make no sense. It is simply "unfair" and only in eternity would we understand why.

We love you.

I am truly sorry to hear of Keith's passing. We were both so lucky to be chosen to attend the Boy Scout World Jamboree together in Japan in 1971. I know Keith's mother was so proud of him and I am honored to have shared so many memories of our time in Boy Scouts together.

It was a pleasure to know Keith. Although our meeting was recent, Keith was very generous in sharing many a story of his life's adventures. Indeed, his many accomplishments became apperent with every story. I am saddened of his passing but glad to have known him. I extend a shoulder to his family and many many friends. God bless.
