My son Nathan Vance is close friends with Clay's older brother Sean. I did not even know Clay but I know Sean and I am sure that they were similar type people, high energy with an great smile and always laughing. The Vance family has prayed for the family and cannot imagine losing a family member at such an early time in their life. Nathan has a younger brother and I know he would be crushed if something happened to him. Love and Prayers, Bob, Farrel, Nathan, Nora and Calvin Vance.

I used to work with clay and he was so funny! I lost contact with him and I wish I could of talked to him more. He was such an amazing boy! I wish you my condolences and I will truly never forget how great of a work partner Clay was.

Patty, Sean, and family,
There are no words that can comfort a time like this. My heart shattered learning of your loss---I can't even imagine your hearts. Clay's spirit was too restless and great for our world, I suppose, and God has taken him where he can spread his wings and soar. Soar high, Clay, and make your presence felt by your mother and your brother so they know you are watching over them and with them always. I was heart broken when I heard about Clay. I know the pain of losing a child. But, the added tragedy of it being so sudden and unexpected makes it so much worse. No words can possibly express the depth of sadness we are all feeling about the loss of Clay. Clay always brought smiles to our faces, all those years ago at St. Joseph, and whenever we reminisced about those "good old days."

Sending my love and condolences from Oregon. Clay was like a little brother to me, from spending time with him at Patty's or Scott's house after school or summers at Twain Harte. Clay will be missed, but will always be remembered and his smile and George will always be present in our hearts. Sorry I could not be at the memorial, but will visit you all in two weeks. To Scott and Lisa, Patty and Sean, I am so saddened by the loss of Clay. I just saw him a few weeks ago and was amazed at how tall he had grown and how well he was doing. To the Harding Family, losing a loved one, let alone a child, is never easy. The grief, disbelief, and pain is crushing. Unfortunately, our children do not have the wisdom to navigate that tricky and sometimes treacherous road to adulthood. Letting go can be so hard, but we must.
