Mr. Runnells was a one-of-a-kind, incredible man. I am so grateful to have known him. I actually worked for Mr. Runnells as the Executive Director of The Gathering Place - a unique program for adults with mental illness. On one side Mr. Runnells could be tough. Like when he told me he didn't like (not in those words) the BBQ at the restaurant I recommended. But most importantly was his other side - he had a depth of sincerity, generosity, caring, and kindness second to none. He would mingle with each and every member at our facility no matter what their condition and he treated each member with complete respect. Also despite donating many thousands of dollars to the program; he would NEVER talk about that but instead would literally light up with appreciation for each and every contribution we received from others. It really is an understatement to say the world is a better place because Clive Runnells was in it.
