David Wilson Obituary

David Shawn Wilson
1962-2017
David "Shawn" Wilson (aka Shinny, Shindog, Shinny Wahoo, Shawnypoo, Chicky, Father Figure, Hand, Foot, Ham and Cheese) age 54, Houston, Texas, died on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on December 6, 1962, Shawn played on the undefeated state champion Hobbs Eagles basketball team in 1981. He moved to Houston in 1990, married, and started his golf career, working at Raveneaux, Pine Forest, Walden, and Family Golf. In 2003, he returned to the oil and gas industry as a fluids control engineer, first for Baker Hughes, and then National Oilwell Varco for the last 8 years. When he wasn't working, however, Shawn was "pegging it" on the golf course or spending time with friends and family skiing, hunting, fishing, and telling jokes and funny stories. He will always be remembered for his fighting spirit, quick comebacks and his unparalleled sense of humor. If he knew you, he gave you a nickname. If he loved you, he told you.
Shawn is survived by his wife and soulmate of 30 years, Cynthia Cannon Wilson; daughters: Barbara, Tiffany, and Ashley; parents: Connye Spurlock and Ralph Wilson; stepparents: Anna Wilson and Jackie Spurlock; grandmothers: Ruth Gray and Katherine Wilson; brothers and sister: Josh Wilson, Quin Spurlock, and Leigh Anna Moore; brother-in-law: Robert Moore; stepbrothers: Ted, Gregg, and Brett Lucas; nephews and nieces: Reese, Cason, Adrianna, Jack, Ashleigh, Shanna Marie, Dustin, Bretlye, and Tye. In addition, he has aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to list.
A Celebration of Shawn's Life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Please call, message, or email the family for further details. The family is requesting that contributions be made to: www.gofundme.com/DavidShawnWilson. Some of the funds will be put towards the celebration, but most will be donated to the American Cancer Society to find a cure.
When God made Shawn, he threw away the mold. Shawn goes out, the same way he came in: "Stylin' and profilin'! Custom-made from head to toe!"

Shawn is one of the best guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Always upbeat, always laughing in spite of the difficulties of the last couple of years. We used to share stories about our ongoing surgeries, treatments and laugh about them. I always felt better afer talking to him. The world is a lesser place without him, and his unique presence will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the family.

the words at Romans 12:12. As the
family perseveres in prayer, may our
Heavenly Father give you the strength

Shawn had such a passion for life. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. His smile was contagious, you could not help but smile when he was around. He was always working on his golf swing, trying to reach perfection, even though it was already perfect!
Rest in Peace Shawn, you will be greatly missed.
