Donald Fred Potts, a 48 year member of Pipefitters Union Local 211 Houston, Texas, died November 19, 2016 in Baytown, Texas. He was born in Alvin, Texas on January 8, 1949 and graduated from Alvin High School in 1967. In 1972, after five years of apprenticeship training, became a Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder in Local 211 Houston, Texas. In 1999, he was employed by Bechtel Corporation as a Field Welding Engineer until 2013 when he retired.
He was preceded in death by parents Lynn and Fred Potts, son Ken Potts. He leaves behind sons Kevin (Melissa) Potts, Jason Potts, David West, Mark (Nichoal) West and daughter-in-law Ruth Potts. He leaves as well his devoted first and last love, Connie Rogan; his sister Shelly (Charles) Allen, brother Jon (Nancy) Curless; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many relatives and lifelong friends.
Don was a dedicated, we ll respected employee and traveled extensively throughout this country including Trinidad and St Croix during his years with Bechtel. He enjoyed saltwater fishing and the great outdoors, especially spending time with his cousin Mike in Arkansas.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be Saturday, January 7, 2017, 2pm - 4pm at the home of Jon and Nancy Curless, 12993 County Rd.190, Alvin, Texas 77511. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
