April 3, 1955 - June 9, 2022
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on Thursday, June 9, at 67. Doug was born in Pasadena, California, and spent his high school years in Richardson, Texas before attending The University of Texas and becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Doug's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Janie Carver, daughters Drew Fein (husband Zach), Sloan Gomez (husband Jonathan), and Julie Kauffman; and son Rob Kauffman (wife Laura) and grandsons Noah and Grahm.
Doug collected several hobbies, including skiing, golfing, hiking, and sailing. After retiring from a long career as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Doug taught children's ski school. He always had a smile and a joke and was a registered organ donor.
In addition to the family above, Doug is survived by his mother Jacqueline Carver, and brothers Chris Carver (partner Virginia DeSilva) and Greg Carver (wife Marlisa).

I am heartbroken to learn of Doug´s passing - the same year I lost my father. I dated Doug for a short time when he was a dental student at (then) Baylor where I was secretary to one of the deans. I remember that Doug smiled all over his face. He gamely accompanied me to at least one party with my actor friends (I also performed comedy) and always meant to take me sailing but we never quite did that. I´m so so glad to read that he married and had children and grandchildren and continued to sail. I too married and had a wonderful daughter who has now had a wonderful daughter of her own. I´m happy I knew Doug for even a brief time, I have no doubt that he brightened the lives of all his family and friends, and I´m so terribly sad that he´s gone.
