Eduardo Segura, M.D.

78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at home in Sugar Land, Texas, December 26, 2018. Eduardo Segura was a native of Bogota, Colombia born in February 1940. He leaves his wife of 54 years Ruth Segura and his children– Adriana Segura her husband Huw Thomas, his daughter Patricia Segura, his son, Eduardo Segura and his wife Alice Hamlin, his son Jaime Segura and 7 grandchildren, Drew, Natalia, Charlie, Sebastian, Catalina, Isabella, Eduardo and his brother in-law Daniel Guzman. He graduated with his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and then did his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Rhode Island and his residency with Brown University before settling in Texas, to do what he loved best, practicing pediatric medicine. He was in private practice for over 30 years in Pasadena before joining the Texas Children's Hospital family. He was a loving husband, adoring father, and caring physician. He touched everyone he met with his kindness and compassion. A memorial is scheduled for January 5, 2019 at 4 p.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Co.@ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway with a reception to follow. My first child started seeing Dr. Segura in 1979 and when she was 18 he said Kathryn, you know you have to see another Dr. now. She cried. My youngest, who was born in 1991 saw him until he was 18. He was the most gentle human being that I have ever known. We loved him so much. Terri, who worked for him, actually called my daughter today to tell us of his passing. My daughter is 39 years old and she still has that touch with his office. So special. RIP, Dr. Segura. You touched many lives in your carreer as our pediatrican.

Dr Segura was such an exceptional individual. He was our pediatrician for 16 wonderful years and he kept me calm while navigating with twins. God has gained an amazing angel. Condolences to the Segura family.

Sweet Ruth
We are so sorry for the lost of such a special person.
There is a saying that Angels walk into our lives when we least expect it and that is what happen with Dr. Segura. I will never forget one of the worst days of our life our 7 day old baby boy having trouble breathing. I called the office and was told to bring him right in. By the time I got there he was barely pushing air in his lungs. Dr. Segura immediately jumped into action he stabilize him enough to transfer to the hospital. We learned he had RSV and because of his young age we didn't know if he would survive. Dr. Segura stayed with us, sat with us, prayed with us for 2 weeks .He would come to the hospital 3 to 4 times a day. he checked in with the nurses every few hours. When I told the nurse we personally knew yall she said no that's just Dr. Segura he is very involved with all his patients. This was not the only time we had major problems with Andrew and Thank God we had your wonderful husband to care for him. He just celebrated his 28th birthday and as we have done every birthday we thank God for our Angel who was there and saved his life. I know these words will not ease your or your families pain but know he was loved by so many of parents just like us.

It's with a heavy heart I read of Dr. Segura's passing. He delivered me into this world in 1986 and was my pediatrician until I was about 16. He was also the pediatrician I chose for my own two children, in 2005 & 2007, until he left his office in Pasadena a few years back. He was always so kind and had a warm smile. He helped me navigate my new mommy world when it came to caring for my kids when they were sick. My condolences go out to Dr. Segura's family during this hard time. I pray the precious memories you have with him will help lift you through this time of grieving.

My daughters and I are so sad to hear of Dr. Segura's passing but hearing his name brought smiles to our faces. Both girls can still hear him walking into the room saying their names and having the kindest voice and concern. He took such great care of them and allowed them to continue under his care until they were entering college. You were a wonderful man, Dr. Segura and will be missed. May you rest in peace among the angels.

This makes me sad. I learned so much from Dr. Segura as a first time mom 24 years ago. He would always take the time to answer all my questions, silly or not, and never made me feel stupid for asking. He was an amazing doctor and an amazing man. He was both my childrens doctor until they were both 16 or so. Prayers for his family.
