George Glauser Obituary

George Leonard Glauser, D.D.S
1929-2021
George Leonard Glauser, D.D.S passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by the love of his life for 68 years, Betty Miller Glauser, his parents Harry Joseph Glauser Sr. and Claudia Camellia Glauser; his brothers Harry, Jr., Jack and Ronnie Glauser; and his daughter in-laws Andrea Glauser and Debbie Glauser. George is survived by his 4 children, George L. Glauser, Jr., Robert V. Glauser, Gail Glauser Serant (Mike) and Greg J. Glauser; as well as his 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
George was born in Houston, Texas to Harry and Claudia Glauser, Sr. on June 6, 1929. He attended St. Anne's Catholic School, St. Thomas High School, Rice Institute and thence Washington University Medical – Dental School in St. Louis, Missouri. George served in the United States Airforce from 1955 – 1957 in Big Springs, Texas.
George was an outstanding running back for the Rice Institute Football teams; 1949 Southwest Champions and 1950 Cotton Bowl Champions defeating North Carolina. George scored the first touchdown at the newly built Rice Stadium in 1950. In the same year, after Rice defeated Texas in Austin, George was introduced to the love of his life, Betty.
George loved sports and was a long-time member of River Oaks Country Club where he regularly enjoyed playing golf and tennis. When he was not filling cavities, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
George was known to his grandchildren as "GG" and Betty as "BB". They loved taking the grandkids to the bay house during the summers to fish and enjoyed traveling with them to and from Camp Longhorn.
GG and BB loved traveling and enjoyed organizing golf and tennis couples' trips to various destinations such as Kerrville, Aspen, Mexico, Florida, North Carolina, and Newcome Tennis Ranch. He was always great at making the women feel special even if they lacked golf or tennis skills. George was a loving, caring person who would happily get up at 2am to fix a caddy's sore tooth and payment was always bags of found golf balls left at his office door. He would always do charity dental work for those who asked.
The family extends many thanks and sincere appreciation to our loving sister, Gail Glauser Serant, for her devoted time, selflessness, love, and attention to our Dad. We are also thankful to Anna and Grace who were both alongside our mother and father for many years. Your service will not be forgotten, and our thoughts and prayers will always be with you.
GG will be missed by everyone who knew him. His uplifting and kind spirited nature along with his willingness to serve as a devoted Catholic, touched the lives of so many people throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. We will miss you, GG.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, 25 of February 2021, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, in Houston. A private family burial will be held at Forest Park Cemetery.
In lieu of customary rememberances, memorial contribution may be made to Brookwood Community, St. Thomas High School, and St Michael Catholic Church or to the charity of one's choice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. Our whole family loved George and Betty! My mom and Dad, Sue and Gilbert Sevier looked forward to the fun trips they took, and the laughter they shared. He always had a smile on his face, and a joke in his mouth:).His joy for life was catching, and those around him could feel it. He has been a dear friend to my dad after looking my mom. He always stayed in touch and made Dad laugh.
He will be sorely missed, but he's in heaven with his favorite " BB"
