Harry Anderson Obituary

Anderson
Harry William Anderson, Jr., was born November 6, 1930 and died May 21, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann McElroy Anderson; daughter Julie Anderson Shepherd of Houston, son-in-law Maury Shepherd and grandson Matthew; son Christopher Anderson of Chicago and grandchildren Paul and Sarah; son Reece Anderson of Austin, daughter-in-law Katie and grandson Samuel; grandson Ryan, child of son Neil Anderson who preceded Harry in death; four great grandchildren; brother Reece Brooks Anderson and sister Gail Anderson Durham; and a large and loving extended family.
Harry was close to all of his family and loved gatherings at home and at the family farm in Fayette County. He could fix anything and answer any question that came up. He was fun-loving and generous to a fault, and his booming voice will be greatly missed.
A native Houstonian, Harry graduated from Lamar High School, attended Duke University, and earned his degree at the University of Houston. Harry was president of Anderson Petroleum Transportation and was a long time member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, elder, and Stephen minister.
A memorial service will be held at St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 4807 San Felipe, Houston, Texas 77056 on Saturday June 18 at 11:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to the St. Philip Memorial Fund or to Houston Hospice.

Can anyone help me find any members of Harry Anderson´s extended family? I was a photographer´s assistant in 1973 and we shot on location at the Anderson´s farm in Fayette County. The farm was condemned and flooded by the LCRA to create a cooling pond for a coal power plant. Before the Anderson farm, and those of their neighbors were flooded I took lots of photographs that I would like to offer to the Anderson family. If anyone knows how to get in touch please text me at 615-424-4423 or email me at [email protected]
Thank you!
This photo is from that series, and is probably my best ever

Dear Mrs. Anderson, Chris, Reece, Julie, Maury, and I am not about to leave out Neil or all of the family that Mr. Anderson loved so much. Please know that on this day especially Mr. Anderson felt those years of love from all of you just as he felt God's love warm and brighten his soul this very day. I suppose now that I am 60 I could drop the "Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Anderson" formality but I keep it because my parents taught me to use that formal greeting with those who have earned it. Mr. Anderson was a man among men, a father, husband, grandfather, a leader that people looked to for advice and encouragement. Mr. Anderson did that for so many people and those lives were touched by his integrity and concern for others. And Mrs. Anderson, sixty years of marriage, 60, six - zero! You and Mr. Anderson have set a goal and an inspiration of grand proportions for others.

We send our heartfelt sympathies and warmest love for all of you. Julie knows where we are if any of you needs the slightest favor.

Remember, God makes the wind, but we get to set the sails.
