We're so sorry for your loss. Our mother certainly enjoyed your mother's company and their friendship was very important to her.
We'll keep you all in our thoughts.

Ms. Michalek was like a second mother to me; she was always tender and kind. She always made me feel welcome in her home - which is a very good thing since I was there more than I was at my own home! Ms. Michalek had a generous heart and I was blessed with her love. I'll always remember her raspy laugh and her happy disposition. I remember fondly the way she called her daughters "baby girl" and that's the term of endearment that I use for my own daughters to this day. I remember how messy her house could get and how it was always a comfortable and welcoming home - never fussy and no guest ever felt it was a home to been seen and not to be lived in. When I look around at the clutter and mess in my own home (which takes clutter and mess to a whole new level!), I remind myself how comfortable I felt in the Michalek home knowing that there were far more important things going on - like living - and find comfort. The Michalek home was full of life and love and great activity -- and that's why I loved spending so much time there. I also remember Ms. Michalek's cigarettes - I can't help but wonder how many Deb and I "lifted" from her during our senior year! And I'll never forget the way she made my daughters promise her that they will NEVER smoke cigarettes because of the way it destroyed her health. That was just one more act of love, one of so many that fill my heart with beautiful and tender memories of a beautiful and loving mother! Now she's a beautiful guardian angel who will be watching over her loved ones in a more powerful way than ever before! And how happy we should be for her to be back with her wonderful husband! Sending great love to her family, Nancy Carpickle Murphy

We are so sorry to hear the news. Irene's passing signifies for us the end of an era of great ladies. Debbie, I guess it's up to this next generation to carry on. Our prayers are with you.
