James Moye Obituary

James Moye
02/15/1926 - 02/02/2024
James Edward "J.E." Moye was born in Warren, TX and passed away at home in Kingwood, TX at the age of 97 years after a courageous battle with COPD and pneumonia.
J.E. was the son of Thomas Jackson Moye and Missouri Alice Gant. He was born and raised on a small farm in Tyler County during the Depression. He learned many skills that served him well all his life. He grew to be a problem solver and could build or fix just about anything. He was always available to offer advice and lend a helping hand to family and friends.
J.E proudly served in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. In 1946 he met Doris Faye Cameron at a "Josey party". They married in 1950 in Woodville, TX and were married 73 years. Together J.E. and Doris attended Sam Houston State Teachers College and graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. They worked for Cy-Fair ISD for over 60 years total, where he was the first district Math Supervisor.
J.E.'s greatest joy was his family who he loved deeply, and who loved him. Together they raised two daughters, Cynthia Kay and Karen Denise, and welcomed sons-in-law Don Timme and Robert Bush, who he loved as if they were his own sons. He had a special relationship with each of his "grands": Cameron Timme and wife Casey; Kevin Bush, and Eric Bush. He adored his three great-grandchildren: Claire, Carly, and Carson Timme.
J.E. loved to watch sports, especially football and baseball. He and Doris together enjoyed watching their favorite golfers and country music performers on TV. He loved to talk to folks, sharing stories about all kinds of topics. Within minutes of meeting J.E., new acquaintances would hear about his family. J.E. was loved by his friends, neighbors, and anyone who knew him.
J.E. was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Alice, brother Thomas, sister Frankie, son-in-law Don, and other family members and friends.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of James Moye. Mr. Moye was my high school math teacher at Cy-Fair HS in the early 1960s. He was an excellent teacher and fine gentleman who cared for his students. Some of the math lessons he taught me have served me well during my life even though I did not pursue a math related career. He and his family also lived in the same community that I did - Jersey Village. I was fortunate to be able to visit him on several occasions on Shanghai St., when I would visit my parents in the 70s - 90s. We always enjoyed catching up and discussing mutual friends. Hi lived a good, long life - may he rest in peace.
