James Rexrode Obituary
09/30/1937 - 09/20/2024
James R. Rexrode of Houston passed away on September 20, 2024, after a seven-year battle with congestive heart failure. He was 86 years old.
Ron was born in 1937, to James and Ona Rexrode, in Detroit, Mich. After graduating from Centreville High School in 1955, and Western Michigan University in 1959, he received a direct commission in the Army Medical Service Corps in 1961, and was stationed in Columbus, Ga., South Korea, Denver, Colo., Japan, and New York City. While in Japan, he met and later married Betty Wilson, in 1967.
Both moved to Houston in 1973, and Ron became a human resources development manager and consultant with three oil and gas companies. He also received his MBA from Pepperdine University in 1978. After retirement, he founded Capstone Consulting and was involved in many community and professional associations.
He was a member of Cinco Ranch Church of Christ in Katy for 29 years, Eldridge Road Church of Christ in Sugar Land for 22 years, and the Viva Vocé Victorian Carolers in Houston for more than 20 years.
Ron enjoyed caroling, acrylic painting, the outdoors, and most of all, slow-pitch softball. He played in various leagues with the City of Houston and the Harris County Senior Softball League. While at HCSSL, he was a longtime player and manager and a short-time board member.
Ron will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who will remember him as a warm person who was full of life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty W. Rexrode, of 55 years in 2022; and his two brothers, Col. Robert W. Rexrode, U.S.A. Ret. in 2024, and Lt. Col. Thomas O. Rexrode, U.S.A. Ret. in 2013. He is survived by his two sons, Todd and Andrew of Houston, Texas.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cinco Ranch Church of Christ, 6655 S. Mason Road, Katy, Texas 77450, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the church following the service. He will be inurned by his two brothers at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Ron was always a friendly and warm and fun guy to be around. Much fun to share softball memories with him at HCSSL. Best wishes to family and friends. He will be missed!
