Rose Marie Rexrode

Rose Marie Rexrode, age 68, of Blue Grass, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at her home.

She was born June 30, 1957, a daughter of the late George Nelson and Earlean (McDaniel) McElwee.

A Christian, Rose was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, where she was baptized and regularly attended prior to her decline in health. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed painting, working in her workbooks, watching her favorite television show—The Big Bang Theory—and cherished quiet moments spent reading.

Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Rojsountikul.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Nathan Lynn Rexrode of Blue Grass; two daughters, Crystal Marie Rexrode of Blue Grass and Mindy Lee Rexrode of Covington; two brothers, Allen McElwee of Locust Grove, and James McElwee of Hot Springs; a sister, Mary Ann McElwee of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her fur babies, Koko, Luna Moon, and Sassbo.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Asbury Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
