James Whaley Obituary

JAMES MOORE WHALEY, SR. born 7/31/1928, left our world to join his beloved wife Evelyn in paradise on March 3, 2009. Born to Ann and Walter Whaley of Estelline, TX, Jim graduated from the University of Texas with a civil engineering degree. He began a distinguished career in the energy industry after serving our country in the Korean War. A Houston resident of more than fifty years, Jim founded Gas Equipment and Air Rentals, a company whose success resulted from his reputation as a diligent engineer of integrity and honesty. His passions in life were family, bay fishing, farming and UT football. He is survived by his loving children, James M. Whaley, Jr. and Mimi A. Coulson, their spouses Therese Whaley and Bruce Coulson, and grandchildren Colleen, Kathleen and Evan Whaley. Please join us in remembering Jim at Chapelwood United Methodist Church (Chapelwood.org) this Saturday, March 7th, at 2 PM. Our gathering will occur in the chapel accessed from the east parking lot. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's name to either the Coastal Conservation Association or the American Cancer Society. We'll miss you Pa Pa, the fish along Bastrop Bayou are safer now.

Dear Jim & Mimi,

You may not remember me, but this is Katey - daughter of Leo Pellerin. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your loved ones. Your father will be dearly missed by me and my husband Dan. He was one of the best fisherman I had ever known with some very tall tales to go along with his fishing stories. Both of your parents treated me as if I were one of their own family members and it was a pleasure growing up next door to them. I am so sorry for your loss and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
