I remember Jean and Bridget so well...sophisticated, warm, witty and just great to have known them. They were an amazing couple, and I'm glad to remember them here.

Jean and Bridget were neighbors and wonderful friends of our family for many years. Jean was a gentle man of great humor and kindness. And he was irrepressibly French, and could be counted on to do his best Inspector Clouseau imitation, to the delight of my kids. We’d drop in on them unannounced on trips to Houston, and were invariably welcomed, fed and entertained by his and Bridget’s gently-chiding banter. Somehow, the whole historical relationship between England and France was played out in miniature in their union. “I think you’ve tossed the salad quite enough,” remarked Bridget one day as he was preparing a meal, which he answered with just a sly grin in our direction. We last saw Jean some time after Bridget’s death, and noticed the twinkle in his eyes had gone. Enclosed picture is of them at a going-away party they held for my parents, Toni and Jean Davenport, in 1982. Jean and Bridget, you are much missed, but we’re better to have known you, and been blessed with your friendship.

I remember him as a kind man when I was employed with Western Geophysical years ago. My deepest Sympathy.
