John Askew Obituary

JOHN DOUGLAS ASKEW died suddenly on December 26, 2006. He was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on June 9, 1937. John spent two years in the active Army and continued his service in the Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Major. John graduated with a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1961 and began working with Proctor and Gamble. He was a major contributor in the production of Crisco shortening. The major portion of his career was with Texaco. He worked in Research and Development, and was the co-researcher and holder of several patents. After retiring from Texaco, John worked with H&R Block. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Maxine Foley Askew, with whom he shared 47 years. His children are William Douglas Askew and Mary Elizabeth Farquhar. There will be a celebration and remembrance of his life on Saturday, December 30, 2006 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. at his home. He was respected in his community and by his peers. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.

Maxine, I Know You and John had your ups and downs;BUT I think ya'll made a GREAT pair together.
You all always seemed to complement each other in many ways;dispite the difficulties!
