John Bisson Obituary

John R. Bisson died suddenly after being admitted to Methodist Hospital early Thursday morning, January 2, 2014. John was born November 2, 1969 in Portland, Maine to Lynne E. Hodgkins and Donald J. Bisson. Because of his father's and stepfather's service careers, John had lived in Portland Maine; Fort Lee, Virginia; Erlangen, Grafenwöhr, Nürnberg and Adelsdorf in Germany; and Fort Knox, Kentucky, before finally settling in Copperas Cove, Texas. John attended schools in Erlangen and Vilseck while living in Germany, and he graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1987.
John began his higher education at Central Texas College, and then studied Civil Engineering at Western Michigan University from 1991 through 1992. He then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with his Civil Engineering Degree in 1997. He began his career in Austin, Texas. In 2003, John packed his few belongings and drove to Tomball, Texas after a successful interview with Dale Phillips, owner and CEO of DPIS Engineering. John considered DPIS home and family, and they feel the same. He was a qualified inspector for the Texas Department of Insurance, and was on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers windstorm roster. In 2003 John met his soulmate, Todd Bonny. They had built a life together and had planned on returning to Maine to be married on July 5. They had subsequently hoped to start a family of their own. John enjoyed being with friends and family, playing poker, collecting, model-building, and taking in a good film. He will always be remembered for his kindness, warmth, laughter and love.
John is survived by his long-term partner and fiancé Todd Bonny, mother Lynne E. Nicholson, father Donald J. Bisson, stepfather James Gillian Nicholson, sister Wendy L. Mitzel, brother-in-law Joseph G. Mitzel, nephew Troy Alexander Mitzel, maternal grandmother Lillian Stoddard Cerolia, maternal Aunt and Uncle Nancy and Paul Smith, paternal Aunt Giselle Rowe, Uncles and Aunts Maurice and Lorraine Bisson, Lionel and Ann Bisson, Claude and Sue Bisson, several cousins, and numerous close friends and colleagues. He will always be loved and missed by us all. Our memories of John will never die. The family will greet friends 5-8PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The funeral service will be 2PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Klein Funeral Home Chapel.
