J.A.--through Cub Scouts, Arlington High School and then the Army we have been friends. Then onto the Schaumburg P.D. with all of it's adventures and experiences. I always considered you one of my actual friends, and I miss you already. But I will remember you with all the funny and crazy things we did in our lives, and as long as a person is remembered and loved they are really never far away. You can rest now, see you on the other side.

I was shocked and devastated to hear about John's death. I remember so well John and Mary and Peg as kids all those years ago when I would come from Detroit visit them in Arlington Heights. My heart breaks for Mary and Peg and John's family.

When I was about seventeen, our families got together on the coast of Oregon. John's mom (Esther) and my dad were siblings. It was a lovely time, that I think of often. I loved sitting with and watching my Aunt Esther painting, overlooking the ocean.
Being a much;) younger cousin, I didn't know John well... but on that trip I developed a mad crush on him! He was so charming, funny...hilarious really...that he had everyone hanging on his every word. On a shallower note...he was very good looking. In the picture above... he looks, as I remember him, just like his dad...Uncle Ben...one of the kindest men ever.
To John' wife , son, Peggy and Mary, my heart is broken for you. I know you will miss him here...but know that John is now with God and his beloved parents... at peace...cracking jokes and telling stories.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. The last time I saw him, we went to San Francisco together. I will never forget the wonderful time we had. I did not want the evening to end. He had such an awesome personality. I will also cherish the memories we had when our families got together. My thoughts and prayers are with John's sisters at this hard time in their life.

It is with heavy heart that I write this condolence for John. He was not only my cousin by blood, but my brother in law enforcement. We didn't get to grow up together but hit it off immediately starting with his first ride-a-long with me at Yakima Police Department. After our first call together that day, watching me deal with a non cooperative type, John looked over at me and said "we're going to get along just fine". My thoughts and prayers go out to John and family.

Peg, Mary and John's family lived next door to mine for many years. John was just part of all those memories of kids running around the neighborhood being kids. Water balloons and wading pools, badminton games. He was always kind and good natured, and had a great sense of humor. It is difficult to find words that could ease this loss to you, his family. You are in my thoughts, and I hope you can find some peace somehow.
