Uncle Cecil, I still cannot believe that you are gone. I was so fortunate to see you before your passing. When I walked into your room, you immediately said my name and how much you missed me. I'll never forget what a wonderful Uncle you were. I know you are with the Lord. Rest easy ...we will see each other again. I love you...

I have known Dr. McBride many years at St. Joseph Medical Center. He was a man of his word. Assisting him in C/Sections was an honor. He made me feel at ease and very comfortable no matter what complication arose. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with one of Houston's finest OB/GYN's. Dr. McBride was a joy to work with. He taught me so much during his time at St. Joseph Medical Center. He made the toughest emergencies feel like it was a piece of cake. He was so calm all the time. Dr. McBride will truly be missed. May his family find peace and comfort in the memories that will live on in their hearts forever. Rest in peace Dr. McBride.

May God bless and strengthen the family. Dr. McBride delivered my 2 daughters both by C-section and I am forever grateful to him for his compassion and expertise. I was torn and sad when he retired from his practice but he shared with me his reasoning therefore, I will forever respect him and his wisdom. To the family be strong in the Lord. God loves you and so do I.

Following is a narrative I wrote for my brother a week before he departed this life:
Celebrating You
You can live your entire life thinking that you know someone. And perhaps, on a superficial level you do. You know their favorite color, favorite foods, friends, dreams and accomplishments. Those things are just a drop in the bucket, when it comes to knowing someone. You, my dear brother, have taught me that and more, during the last two years, as you fought the toughest battles of your life--which you won.
Never before, in my life, have I seen such courage, strength, resolve, commitment, love and devotion made manifest in the life of one man, or woman, during the greatest challenges of life. Of the many gifts you came into this world with, you have been generous enough to share them all; your artistic talent by the age of 3 (drawing cartoon characters), your photographic memory, graduating high school at 16 years old, your love of science, math, art, literature, music, people, and nature. Your journey took you into the lives of so many people. As a family member, a friend, co-worker, and doctor, you have left a little piece of you at each point along the way.
You are a son, brother, husband, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle, father, grandfather, friend, student, acolyte, KAPPA, teacher, doctor and, most importantly a child of God. First born of our parents--Johnnie Cecil McBride and Leola Davis McBride--you have made them proud.
I will love you forever and always.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr McBride at St Joseph Hospital 1982 to 2002 he was truly a nice person. He delivered my youngest daughter and two of my grandsons. When he talked to me it was like a father talking to a daughter, with respect and care. He will be greatly missed.
To his family, sorry for the loss of your loved one.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr John McBride. I did not personally know Dr. McBride, but I'm impressed by his professional and personal accomplishments. To his loved ones; may the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts those who mourn" sustain you during this very difficult time; Isaiah 61:1,2. So sorry for your loss.

Dr. McBride was a good teacher and doctor because of the way he listened and really observed. He had a twinkle in his eye that made me think he enjoyed the times his patients were trying to tell him something he knew wasn't true. I enjoyed working as a nurse with Dr. McBride.

I'm a very good friend and ex-co-worker of a wonderful man of them all. Dr. John McBride. He said just what he meant and he meant just what he said" and everyone knew him" in that order ". He will be mist by many of close friends that worked in and out of the work force. My condolences to his family. And may he rest in paradise.

Dr. McBride taught me many things during my time as a nurse at St Joseph. He was funny, smart and always had something to say that's unexpected. He made delivering babies safely look effortless. His absence from the world is a great loss to all who knew him.
