John Middleton Obituary

JOHN ALLEN MIDDLETON, JR., went peacefully to be with our Lord on August 16, 2003. Born May 27, 1962, John graduated from Stratford High School and attended Texas Tech. He was a Vice President of MM's Designs, Inc. and on the Friends Board of Directors of CanCare. Diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of 29, John survived and brought comfort, encouragement and hope to many people through his involvement with CanCare, cancer survivors who offer one-on-one long-term emotional support to cancer patients and their families. John was named CanCare Volunteer of the Year, 1999. Another tumor developed in 2002 and his courage and strength has been an inspiration to his family and many friends. John was preceded in death by his father, John Allen Middleton, and is survived by his wife, Hansa Middleton; his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Larry Kelminson; his sister, Allison Kennedy, and her husband, Brigadier General Kevin Kennedy; his sister, Jamie Duhon and her husband Chris Duhon; nieces, Taylor and Katlin Kennedy, and Madeline Duhon, and nephews, Brian and Matthew Duhon. A Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 20, at 2 o'clock p.m. The family wishes to thank CanCare, friends, the hospice staff, and all caregivers. In lieu of flowers, John requested donations to CanCare, 9575 Katy Freeway., Ste. 428, Houston, TX 77024, (713) 461-0028, www.can care.org., or to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Ste. 100, Houston, TX 77024-2923, www.houstonhospice. org.

I was so sorry to read this. John and I were friends and roommates in Bellaire, Texas a long time ago. He was the nicest guy in the world. When I moved we lost touch. RIP John.

My daughter Marnie died at age 28 of a brain tumor. I am so glad your family got John for many more years. How lucky you are for that even though his life ended much too soon. My condolences to you all.

I also went to High School with John! We lived in the same neighborhood; Thornwood! I remember spending time with him in the Hospital as he fought is brain tumor so bravely back 1993. I was so impressed with his courage! He was such a terrific man! I am sure God has a very special place for him in Heaven! He helped so many with their cancer battles and was always so possitive & a pleasure to be around! He will be greatly missed by so many! I am sorry that I am just now getting word of his death today, 8-21-03. I missed his memorial service, but would like to extend my condolences to the family! My prayers are with you all! I went to high school with John and also have fond memories. When I think of John I see a person who was always willing to open his heart and lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a key contributor to the success and closeness that our graduating class experienced.

God bless John, his family and friends.

I went to High School with John and have many fond memories. John was a great guy - always had that beautiful smile on his face. I saw him at our 20 year reunion 3 years ago and had a wonderful time visiting with him and catching up. He looked terrific and of course, had that huge smile on his face. I feel very blessed to have known John and will cherish the memories of all of our crazy times in High School forever. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and many, many friends. God Bless you John.

I went to high school with John. I now live in Washington but read the Chronicle on line occasionally. I was so surprised to see John's obituary. I remember him as being one of the genuinely "nice" guys who was liked by many. My condolences to John's family.

John and I were friends in high school and remain friends after highschool. We lost touch for a short period of time, but when I found out I had cancer he was the first to call. I loved John very much and will surely missed him. I saw him three weeks ago at MD Anderson and he looked fantastic. I will always remember him as I saw him then: extremely happy to be married and looking so strong.

I love you John!
