Joseph Dooling Obituary

JOSEPH JAMES DOOLING, born January 31, 1920 in Palmyra, New Jersey, died in Houston, Texas on Thursday, August 5, 2004 from a heart attack. Joe served in WW II as a first lieutenant in the US Army's 24th Infantry. After the war, he graduated as valedictorian from Wharton School of Business and joined the FBI as a CPA in 1950. He retired from the Bureau in 1972 and went to work for Allied Bank of Texas as a senior vice-president. In 1978, he formed the accounting firm of Dooling & Dooling with his son, Jay. He retired from that firm in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alma Marie Dooling, his three children, Robert "Jay" Dooling, Alma Jean Dooling, and Brian J. Dooling. He is also survived by his sister, Dermitt Dougherty, now living in Virginia. The vigil service is scheduled for 6:00 pm, Monday, August 9, 2004 at Pat H. Foley. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday August 10, 2004 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd. The rite of Christian burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery.

Dear Alma, Jay, Alma Jean, and Brian, I am so sorry about the loss of your husband and father. Please accept my syncere sympathy and know you will all be remembered in my prayers. I have fond memories of Joe. The visits to Crafton Street when I was young ,and when we met in Austin when my brother John got married. My young sons met Joe and Alma more that once in the elevator of the hotel we all stayed at for the wedding. Also after my mother passed away, Joe and Alma came to Florida and were most supportive.Again my sincere sympathy, Lori Kaczmarski Daughter of John H. Riddle.
