It's hard to believe that Joyce is not with us here on earth anymore. She was a precious lady that came into my life only about five years ago, yet she has been like a second mother to me, as well as a dear friend. She possessed a faith that was amazing; when I try to describe it I think of two ends of the spectrum: childlike and rock solid. What a precious woman she was, and how I will miss her smiles, stories, encouragement and love of life.

When I think of Aunt Joyce, I have a crystal clear picture of her smiling and saying "I am so proud of ---". From as far back as I can remember, every time I talked to her, she would say tell me about something Bill, Larry, Susan, or Sandy had done and how proud she was of them. Later when grand children were born, they were included. But the list didn't just include her own family, my family and her other friends were included. And as a result, we all wanted to do something to be a better person so we would hear her say "I am so proud of you."
When my mother died, she called to comfort me and gave me a thought to remember her by that made me smile. She did it again when my father died, and again when Mary Beth passed away.
Aunt Joyce taught us the importance of a smile. I am so proud of her.
