Joyce Lavonne Scruggs

JOYCE LAVONNE SCRUGGS went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2003. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Joyce, proud to be a 5th generation Texan, was born on December 2, 1926 to Rix E. and Ruth Musslewhite in Humble, TX.      She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Franklin Scruggs, Sr. She is also survived by her daughter Susan Joyce Little and her husband, David, sons, William Franklin Scruggs, Jr., Laurent Rix Scruggs and his wife Pat, and Robert Sanders Scruggs, her brother R.E. Musslewhite and his wife, Magdalene. She was affectionately called "Gram" by her grandchildren: William Scruggs, III, and his wife, Brandi, Kaylyn Kohl, Hallie Scruggs, Dwayne Edwards, Dani Bara, Donna Bara, Kacey Joyce Little, Nicholas Little, Andrea Little, Gabe Howe, Justin Scruggs, Brandon Scruggs, and Megan Scruggs.      She was preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth, her father Rix, her Aunt, Ruby Manker, and brother-in-law, Ted Scruggs and his wife, Elaine. Joyce is survived by special nieces and nephews Karen Hall, Ted Scruggs, Jimmy Scruggs, and Elaine LaFrance.      Joyce was a devoted and faithful member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church where she recently completed the five-year Bible Study Discussion program. She actively participated in many charities. During the last years of her life, she lovingly cared for her husband who has Alzheimer's. She will be remembered for her strength of character and her devotion to her greatest passion in life, her family. This is her legacy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her favorite bible verse was "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." - Galations 5:22      A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, with Rev.
