Kenneth Hoppens Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" Doyle Hoppens
09/29/1945 - 08/27/2025
Kenneth "Ken" Doyle Hoppens, 79, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1945, in Houston to Catherine and Herbert Hoppens.
Ken was accepted to Rice University and later graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in English. He went on to earn his master's degree from the Fashion Institute of Dallas, graduating as Valedictorian, and continued his studies in design in Paris, France.
With a keen eye for beauty and design, Ken built a long and successful career in the retail industry. He worked in the executive offices of Sakowitz and Foley's as a buyer and manager, before joining Walter Pyes, where he served as buyer and district manager for 20 years. Later, Ken joined K&G Fashions, traveling across the United States to open new stores.
A devoted Catholic, Ken received the Papal Blessing from Pope John Paul II for his service to Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. He dedicated over 30 years as a board member of The School for Young Children and also served on the school board of Corpus Christi Catholic School. He and his beloved wife, Jeanne, were longtime members of the Infant of Prague Family Guild.
In his youth, Ken's talents extended to the performing arts. He studied dance in New York and California, was selected as a Mouseketeer for Disney, performed with a Russian dance company, and appeared as a son on the television series My Three Sons. Ken and Jeanne first met while dancing on The Larry Kane TV Dance Show, where he famously said upon seeing her, "That is the girl I am going to marry." Their love story became a lifelong marriage of 57 years, filled with devotion, faith, and family.
Ken's family was his greatest joy. He lovingly referred to Heather as his "princess," Todd as his "prince," and Alessio as his "baby." His selflessness, forgiving heart, and willingness to help anyone in need defined the way he lived. Ken's precious grandson, Massimo, was there to greet him and take his hand as he entered God's heavenly kingdom.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Herbert Hoppens, and his grandson, Massimo Massoud. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Sedita Hoppens; daughter, Heather Massoud; son, Todd Hoppens; son-in-law, Albert Massoud; and grandson, Alessio Massoud.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Houston Methodist Hospital, especially those at Jones Tower, for their compassionate care. Special thanks are also given to Fr. Sean Horrigan, Dcn. Burt Martin, Fr. Desi Daniels, Peter Nguyen, and to Tripp Carter of Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home for his exceptional support and dedication.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas. Pallbearers will be Todd Hoppens, Albert Massoud, Alessio Massoud, and Herman (Skip) Brumme. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gary Paradise. A private burial will be held at a later date.
