Kenneth Lark Obituary

Kenneth Joseph Lark With enormous sadness, we announce the death of our much beloved son, brother, nephew and friend. Born February 27, 1988, he left us on January 4, 2012.
Kenny Joe is survived by his parents, Maurita and Kenny, and his loving brother Gregory, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and an incredible number of friends. Kenny Joe died with the love of his life, Kaat Debeuckelaer; both were victims as passengers in a horrific car wreck. We also mourn and are devastated by her passing.
A Celebration of Kenny Joe's life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 4 to 6 PM at Epiphany Lutheran Fellowship Hall, 14423 West Road, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kenny Joe's name to the charity of your choice, or to the Kenneth J. Lark Memorial Fund, c/o his parents.

I remember how impressed I was with Kenny the first time I met him. I immediately noticed his infectious smile, up-beat demeanor and zest for life. I've always admired those who have the unique ability to possess remarkable confidence without being conceited and Kenny was unquestionably one of those rare individuals. Soon thereafter, he introduced me to his amazing girlfriend, Kaat and I distinctly recall thinking, “Wow, what an awesome couple, they are SO PERFECT for one another”! As his father shared at his memorial service, Kenny certainly did have exceptional “standards”.

It was no surprise in the least when he later became President of the fraternity. It's hard to imagine anyone who could have exemplified the ideals of Lambda Chi Alpha like Kenny did. This was a role he was destined to fill and with his remarkable intellect and God-given charm, this came quite natural to him.

To say that “Kenny & Kaat will be woefully missed by all who were blessed to have known them” would be the understatement of the millennium. I say it nonetheless because a greater truth cannot be expressed. I am comforted by the fact that Kenny & Kaat were ideal companions in this life and continue to be soul mates together for eternity in Heaven.

We are deeply saddened by your loss. We will always remember Kenny Joe as the fun loving kid who played little league and basketball with our boys. Words can not express our deep sadness for your family.

Dear Lark Family: Our family cannot express the sadness we feel about this tragedy. Our last personal memories were that of the highly spirited marathon match of "Monopoly" with Kaat and our son Rick at the house in Austin, and the act of Kenny's kindness connecting a TV for us to watch during our visit. We are so grateful that our son Rick was able to have such an amazing best friend like Kenny.
We offer Peace, Prayers, and God's Blessings for all family and friends.

I taught Kenny Religious Education at SEAS when he was in the 8th grade. He was always a joy to be around, and never failed to bring a smile to my face with his sense of humor. I had the 8th grade class over one year for my daughter's birthday and everyone charted their height on our wall. Everyone's name is still there. Kenny will live on in our hearts, our memories, and our keepsakes.

I was lucky enough to know Kenny from the time we were in 2nd grade together. From running around at recess to golf camp at Hearthstone to playing baseball together at Cy Falls High School to sneaking into Section 27 at UT football games, Kenny and I truly grew up together. He was a great person and friend. He will be missed and will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Only by God's grace will all involved be able to overcome such a terrible, tragic loss. God is there. All I can do is pray for your families. But God will answer and make you stronger for the pain you must endure. Lives lost here are angels in heaven. May you find strength in God's comforting arms.
