Lawrence Borst Obituary
LAWRENCE B. BORST died on April 19, 2005 in Houston after a courageous battle with debilitating illness and infection. Born in Meriden, CT on December 1, 1926, Larry was the son of Corrine Bicknell and F. Baldwin Borst. A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he earned a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a member of the honorary engineering society Tau Beta Pi and of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He served in the U. S. Navy at the end of WW II. He began his career with the Arabian American Oil Company in New York and retired from Aramco Services Company in Houston after 40 successful and happy years. Larry loved his many working trips in Saudi Arabia. He resided happily in his adopted hometown of Houston for the past 30 years. Preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Eleanor Beach, Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Jane Ryan Borst; his daughter Patricia Hebert and husband, Mark, of Upton, Mass; his daughter Laura Jane Borst of Houston; and his step-daughter Lt. Col. Marianne Rowe, USAF (Ret.) and husband Duane Sandvik; and grandsons Myles and Derek Hebert, Thomas Rowe, and Dillon Sandvik. Also survived by two nephews, Jeffery O. and Jonathan L. He was a member of Texaco Country Club and a former senior member of Northgate Forest Country Club. He is remembered as a gentle and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who could always remember directions to any place he had ever been, or the layout of any golf course he had ever played. He was a warm and constant friend to many people and to his cherished family pets. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with The Rev.
