Luis Stuart Obituary
03/26/1935 - 05/05/2023
Luis Labon Stuart III, age 88, passed peacefully in his Spring, Texas home surrounded by his family on Friday May 5th, 2023. Born on March 26, 1935 in Mineola, Texas to Myrtle and Luis Stuart II. He was the oldest of three children. He spent many hours with his grandfather, Sam "Daddy" Cockerel, hunting in the East Texas woods. At 16 years old, his family moved to Houston. At 17 Luis became an Eagle Scout, his love for the Boy Scouts continued when he became the Scout Master for Troop 878.
In 1957, Luis married Gertrude Fitts, later that year he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Geology. Together they had two sons, Luis Stuart IV and Carl Stuart. He started working at Dresser Industries in March of 1956 and retired exactly 40 years later in March of 1996. Over the years Luis lived in many places. Spending several years in Tehran, Iran as well as Lake Charles, New Orleans, and Lafayette, before settling down in Spring.
Luis had a passion for the outdoors and adventure. From hunting trips in Iran and fishing in the Amazon River to hiking his property along Spring Creek, he was rarely indoors unless he had to be. He was an accomplished hunter and lifelong angler who enjoyed passing his knowledge to everyone he met. Luis was also a regular blood donor with the Gulf Coast Blood Bank having donated over 10 gallons before his passing.
Left to honor his memory are Sons; Luis IV and Carl, his wife Sammie, Grandchildren; Nick, his wife Dawn, Candace, her husband Chet, Naomi, and her husband Zack, Clint, John, his wife Kim, Aubrey and her husband Connor, his Sister Mandy, her husband Tom, his Brother Sam as well as many Great Grandchildren.
Preceded by his wife of 64 years Gertrude and his parents Luis and Myrtle Stuart.
Memorial to be held at Spring Baptist Church in Spring, Texas on Saturday June 10th. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Texas Youth Hunting Program or Gulf Coast Blood Bank in honor of Luis Labon Stuart III.
