Some people come into your life for just a short time but make a lasting impression. Mrs. Day was one of those people. My life was forever changed when I had Mrs. Day for 7th grade science at San Jacinto Intermediate. What I remember most about Mrs. Day was her passion for teaching science. She had a thirst for learning and figuring out how to instill this thirst into her students. She worked hard at planning creative lessons that engaged students, as she wanted students to leave her classroom with more science understanding than when they first walked in the door. Her engaging lesson plans along with her calm and caring personality that I experienced as a teenager still live with me to this day. As I finish my 19th year as an educator, I strive to be THAT teacher for my own students--just as Mrs. Day was for so many of us.

Shara, Kyle, Greg and families,

Our deepest sympathy to all of you; we will all miss your mom's sweet nature and her loving smile--I will always remember her great laugh!

My great memories of her when I was a child will always be special. She became a part of our family when I was about 9 or 10 and I remember thinking she was so beautiful she must be a beauty queen or a movie star! She always made us feel special in her home when we were kids and it was always a treat to get to spend the night. Her kindness meant so much to me. I was honored that she still called me "Chickie" long after everyone else had forgotten my nickname. She worked tirelessly for all she loved and we will all be better people for having known Aunt Marlene. We, along with all of you, will miss her so much.
