Mary Thomas Obituary

Graveside services for MRS. MARY ROBINSON THOMAS, 77 of Houston, TX will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carthage, TX with the Rev. Guston Browning officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2006 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Thomas died Friday, July 14, 2006 in Tomball. Mrs. Mary Robinson Thomas was born February 27, 1929 in Carthage, TX to N.C. and Mattie Boynton Robinson. She attended the University of Texas and married Joe Burke Thomas, Sr., celebrating 57 years of marriage. Mary and Joe were longtime residents of Gaywood in Houston where she was a member of the Gaywood Garden Club, the Gaywood Homeowners Association, and a member of the Waterwood Women's League in Waterwood and Joe worked for CRS in Houston for 30 years. They were Charter Members of the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston and she had served as President of the Methodist Women's Society in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mary was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her maternal grandparents; Lee Fort and Jessie Boynton. She is survived by her loving husband: Joe Burke Thomas, Sr. of Houston, children; Patricia Ann Weems of Houston, Joe Burke Thomas, Jr. and wife Gina Jones Thomas of Cypress, Robert Cullen Thomas and wife Rochelle Bennett Thomas of Schertz, grandsons; Richard Cullen Thomas of Schertz, Ryan Clifford Thomas of Schertz, Joe Burke Thomas III of Cypress, sister; Betty and Herb Heleman of Austin.
