Matthew Peyton Obituary

MATTHEW HARRY PEYTON SR., 54, went home to be with his Savior Jesus on Friday, September 4, 2009. He was born May 9, 1955 in Houston, Texas to George Peyton Sr. and Aileen (Peyton) Jones. Matthew was proud of his family's long Texas heritage. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren who affectionately called him Granddaddy. He is preceded in death by his father George Peyton Sr., two brothers George and David. He is survived by his mother and step father Aileen and Art Jones; his children: Matthew Peyton Jr., and wife Tiffany, Katie Sue Torres and husband Jose, Melissa Peyton; his grandchildren: Matthew Peyton III, Lela and Sophia Torres; brothers: Mark Peyton and John Peyton as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. After serving his country as a Unites State Marine during the Vietnam War era, he attended Stephen F. Austin College. A devoted and loving father, Matthew carried his children's love with him always. His compassionate loving spirit never stopped finding new ways of touching the lives of those around him and he could always be counted on to lend a hand and kind word. A gifted lyricist, Matthew enjoyed creating songs of the moment to any tune that life happened to pass his way. Those who knew him will hold cherished memories of Matthew's sweet smile, enormous humor and tender spirit. His battle at an end, the old man has gone West. Funeral services will be held Monday September 7, 2009 at 12:30 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Star of Texas Recovery 1106 West Dittmar Road, Austin, TX 78745.

Not sure what to say?

September 30, 2009

Heartfelt condolences. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Matthew was a Testimony to the power that God Will Work within our lives if we would all have the courage but to Trust and surrender unto HIM.

Now recalling many wild adventures my brother and I shared with Matthew, George, and David. Very sad for your family's loss, yet we take courage in the Born-Again life and Know God's Will IS Perfect. It is HE Who Provides; always has and will. Stay strong In The Lord and Know Matthew was loved by many. The Peace of The Lord be with you always.

I'll never forget laughing and joking with Matthew, or the trip to the country, when he taught me how to field dress quail. I think he got a real kick out of making me queasy. Enjoy the rest, Matthew.

Thinking of your family, too, especially those incredible kids of yours... your legacy. Well done.

Matthew & I allways had a special bond,
from the time we were little. I will never forget the time you called me when we were teenagers to come and get you. when i got to the taco bell in Houston, you were sitting on top of the building. I got out of my car and you said Ginny! i'm up here. I looked up and i laughed so hard. when we left there we wet to a party that night. Matthew and are cousins, i loved him so much. Matthew was and is very special to me. you will allways be in my heart. My brother died next to matthew about 5 years ago, i found comfort in knowing that my brother Packey, was not alone he was with family. I have nothing but found memories of matthew and his family. God Bless. Love Ginny Cochran

I still remember when I was 7yrs old when my mom was sick, I'll never forget the way you cut the ambulance off to speed down the street to check on my family. You were definately a second dad to me growing up. You've always had a huge heart. I will cherish the memories our families shared as we grew up. Your kids have a special bond with my family and we will always be there for them. You have to promise to keep them strong! I wish things didn't happen this way, but I'm so glad you are in a safe place & out of pain. We love you & miss you.
