1932-2021
Ms. Mattie Louise Harris, age 89, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Mattie was born January 13, 1932 to Leroy and Laura (Johnson) Morrow - the youngest of three.
Mattie accepted Christ at an early age at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. She attended Harper Middle School & Jack Yates High School. Mattie worked for Pat & Jack Proctor as a caretaker/overseer for over 30 years where she retired.
Mattie is survived by her sons Raymond Harris, Eddie Harris, Edward Harris, Anthony Harris; her sister Tessie Miles and her brother Robert Lee Morrow.
Mattie was preceded in death by her father Leroy Morrow and her mother Laura (Johnson) Morrow.
Mattie also leaves nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her dearly.
She lies in repose Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carl Barnes Funeral Home, 746 W 22nd Street, Houston, TX 77008. Her life is celebrated Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 3219 Cedar Grove Road, Ore City, TX 75683. She will be laid to rest immediately following her life celebration at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Estes Road, Ore City, TX 75683.
