Winnie, I wanted to let you know that I still think of you and Mike, and miss his cheerful banter. The West Loop offices have closed, but he is one I think of and cherish whenever I pass by the building. And, there are times I wonder what he would think of various current events that we would regularly discuss over a cup of coffee when we each took a break from our practices. Best wishes and love to you. 832-867-7121; [email protected]

Winnie,
As one year approaches since losing Mike, our hearts and thoughts are with you and your family. Mike was such a bright light in this world - and we all know that he continues to light all of our paths from above while we continue here without him. He loved God and country and family with such passion and dedication - that we all can do well to strive to do the same.
All of our love to you, Winnie and family. Mike is missed always.

I recently recieved a scholarship from the EAPLS/Raven FACs in honor of Mr. Michael Stearns. Quite frankly, I an honored to recieve such scholarship as a tribute to such an honorable man. I admire Mr. Stearns service to country, especially as a USAF graduate and RAVEN. My grandfather served in the Royal Lao Army during that time as well and I plan to follow in the foot steps of those who sacrificed so much so that their country and others can be free.

Winnie,
Carol and I were shocked just yesterday to learn of Mike's death last November! Too soon! Too soon! It tells me that every day with each other is precious and that tomorrow is only a "promisory note". Our best wishes to you and your family. We will always have fond memories of Mike from many years ago on the ski slopes at Monarch, Colorado; Mike and Ed attempting to out-do each other in sailplanes in the soring club at the Academy; and "debating" (arguing) flying techniques during pilot training at Reese AFB (now closed) at Lubbock, Texas. I never met anyone more "intense" in his beliefs, than Mike. He was definitely "one of a kind!" Mike is missed. God bless.

Winnie,
The world's loss is heaven's gain. Mike was amazing. The last time Marcus and I saw him was at the voting polls. He was outside supporting his favorite candidate. He was always a supporter of people. I think that is what amazed me about him. I remember attending a Tax Seminar that Mike presented. As a fellow, CPA, I found his insight to the tax law to be amazing. I really enjoyed working with him on lots of fun projects. He always had an answer for me. I will miss him very much.

My sweet friend, Winnie: I was so shocked to receive your email last week as I had no idea that Mike was gone. He helped me 1000 times in my life, in good times and bad and I feltsuch a loss reading the words about his life. He was such a remarkable man. Most recently, he helped me with my mom before she passed away and I was so grateful for him. He was an angel. Both of you have always meant so much to me - you both were so good to me in earlier, harder years. I'm so sorry, Winnie. I can't imagine your loss. I know he adored you. I love you, dear lady. We will talk soon.

Mrs. Stearns,
My husband and I knew Mr. Stearns through our business. He was always very helpful and understanding. He always seemed to know the right thing to say at the right time, and ALWAYS made you feel better and upbeat. We were both shocked to hear about his death. We are so very sorry for your families loss and pain. We have a nephew and a brother-in-law who was a pilot who both now reside in Heaven. I have asked my brother-in-law (Ed) to be sure and give him a hug. If there is anything we can do to help you, please let us know. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.

Although it has been many years since I have spent time with Mike, I remember when I would go up to the law office to do work for him. My mom was the Legal Secretary at the Law firm. He always had a genuine smile on his face and had something nice to say and would always take me to eat at the chinese food place to show his apprietiation. I was reading a Christmas Book this evening and it made me think alot about Mike and his family and the holidays. This verse as it pertains to memories was in it.
"I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:3-6
Winnie,
I am so very sorry for your loss and pray for you, your kids and grandkids every day. God Bless you all in this time of grief and may you find comfort in your memories of him.

Winnie, this is very hard to write. I loved you and Mike so much. Mike was a joy to work with and was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to and I always felt better after talking to him. He will be missed so much. But, God wanted this wonderful man to be with him in Heaven, we will have our good memories of Mike and will never forget him. You are very fortunate to have such lovely children and grandchildren to help you through these difficult times. It is just hard to believe that he is gone. My prayers are with you. Love Ruth

Although I didn't know Michael personally. He was a brother in Vietnam, and a brother is always a brother to a fellow Veteran.I wish his family comfort in this time of grief. But rest assured Our father in Heaven now holds Michael to his bosom.
My Prayers are with you and your loved ones left behind Brother, and some day at God's calling we shall all be together again.

Michael Stearns was a devoted Christian who loved God and his family. He received over 30 medals in VietNam as pilot with the famed RAVENS. Coming out of the war, he planned to be a mercenary in foreign countries after his Air Force career. However, he had an encounter with Jesus Christ, and did a 180 degree turn which left him wanting to serve, serve, serve. Whether it was serving Jesus, or fellow man, he was a server. He was the man on the news (name unknown by the press) who went out by the Astrodome after Katrina, interviewed people, and gave $100 bills to those he thought needed them. He will be missed by his family and those who knew him.

I was so sorry to see the notice of Mike's passing in Friday's paper when we came back from out of town today.
I worked with Mike quite a few years age, I believe it was his first job at a CPA firm.
He was one of the good guys, and it was a pleasure to have known him.
My sincere condolences.

What a shock. Mike was way too young; way too full of life.
Mike was such a good buddy at the West Loop offices. We would share insights into our respective law practices and court decisions. But, most of all, I looked forward to our discussions of the social and political issues of the day.
Our discussions were energetic but always respectful. Sometimes, the office manager would jokingly ask if we needed a referee, and we would sheepishly bring down the volume and earnestness a bit.
Last Monday morning, I spotted an issue on Netscape that I was sure we would discuss, and looked for Mike's car in the parking lot - only to hear the sad news when I got to the office.
I will so miss Mike's always-engaging warm smile, gentleness, and wonderful sense of humor and fun.
My very best wishes to family and friends as you deal with your great loss.
Sincerely yours,
