Norbert Rathmann, age 83, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Norbert was born in Berlin, Germany. Arriving in the US and becoming a citizen was a dream come true for him. He was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, brother, and grandfather, as well as a trusted friend and business partner with an all-around well-liked personality. Norbert's main focus, joy, and pride in life were his extended family and friends in Houston and throughout Germany, his successful hairdressing businesses, both in Germany and with his lifelong friends and partners in Houston, and a profound love for his many dogs, cats, and horses which adopted him throughout his lifetime. His family, countless friends, in truth, anybody who had a chance to meet him, will remember his kindness, ability to listen, and mentorship driven by his warm manner.
Norbert's engaging personality will be truly missed.
In loving memory of Norbert Rathmann, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the M.D. Children's Art Project and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Your generous contributions will honor Norbert's passion for supporting children's causes and will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
A memorial service is to be held at 10 AM on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. Refreshments to follow.

I intended to come to funeral. Got dressed and my legs weren´t working, so did not make it. Norbert was a great guy that I enjoyed knowing for several years. I have prayed daily for Annie for 21 years and will ad Norbert to my list. I was Norbert and Irmgards´ exterminator for many years. Bill Hubert 281 265 2455

Wer Norbert kannte, weiß, was wir an ihm verloren haben. Seine offene Art, auf Menschen zuzugehen, die Fröhlichkeit und Empathie waren schon ziemlich einmalig. Als Familienmitglied war er für uns räumlich weit entfernt, tatsächlich uns aber immer sehr nahe. Seine Besuche hier in Westfalen sind uns in bester Erinnerung. Sie gingen meistens mit Familientreffen einher, zu denen alle Mitglieder gerne kamen, weil sich immer interessante Gespräche im gemütlichen Rahmen ergaben. Nun ist Norbert gegangen. Geblieben sind zahllose schöne Erinnerungen an einen liebenswerten Menschen, der nicht vergessen werden wird.
