Patrick Studstill Obituary

Patrick Lewis
Studstill, Jr.
1938-2021
Patrick "Pat" Lewis Studstill Jr., 83, passed away October 16, 2021 in the comfort of his Los Angeles home. He was born on June 4, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Known as one of the best NFL punters, kick returners, and receivers of his time, Pat started his football career at the University of Houston. His versatility as a player helped him set NFL records for both punting and receiving, including five consecutive games with at least 125 receiving yards. During his extensive career, he played for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, and New England Patriots.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Pat served as Technical Advisor for the 1974 film, "The Longest Yard," and utilized his expertise to assemble and organize the football team for the production. Soon thereafter, he shifted his focus to move in front of the camera and achieved success as an actor, starring in over 200 commercials, performing both on-camera and voiceover roles; he was also featured in several television shows and movies.
Pat never met a stranger, and his sense of humor was unmatched. He loved his days on the golf course and cherished spending time with his beloved wife, Rita, and many rescue dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Vennari Studstill; son, Pat Studstill III; daughters, Lisa and Shannon Studstill; grandchildren, Nicholas Bear, Amelie and Lucas Alverez; and sister, Eva Jane Worsham. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice. Pat was especially inspired by food banks, animal rescues, and Earth conservancy initiatives.

I was saddened to see in today's obituaries that one of my favorite NFL players of the 60's had passed on to that great gridiron in the sky. I will always remember his 1966 season when his pass receiving prowess was on full display, leading the NFL in pass receiving yards and finishing second in receptions. Thanks for the memories, Pat. You will never be forgotten.
