Dr. Hoffman was not only a great leader for the University of Houston but he was also a great friend to my parents and then to my mother after my father's death. Our deepest sympathies to Mary and her daughters at this time of sorrow. He will be missed by all of us here, but he is up there playing cards with Nona, Johnny, Johnny and Truth.

A man of such accomplishment, and the greatest may have been in his private life where he was a Husband to his wife, and Father to his children and a Champion to his grandchildren.
May they find solace...remembering that his wisdom and love will be with them forever.

I had the great fortune to be a student at UH during Dr. Hoffman's tenure. He will be remembered as one of the University of Houston's most distinguished and honored Presidents. All Cougars who knew him are saddened by his death.

President Hoffman was, for a generation of UH alumni and Houstonians, the personification of the university. Under his steady hand, UH became a major university for the state of Texas. He will be missed my many, but his legacy will live on.

A fine list of credits but it doesn't come close to describing the amazing man my Grandfather was. He taught me how to cast a fishing rod and showed me the value of continuing my education. I am honored to call him family. I love you Grandpa
