Remembering Rick today. Always makes me laugh thinking about his crazy antics. And I´m sure he´s making all our loved ones in heaven above laughing. -:)).
Just so sorry he never got to witness how great his kids turned out and what fun he would have had with his grandkids!! I know he would´ve been so proud!

Hard to believe twelve years have passed. Remembering your twisted sense of humor and how you enjoyed frustrating the heck out of all of us with your pranks along with all the laughter and tears shared. Wish you were still here. You would be so proud of your family.

Dear Rick,
Now that I've worked up some courage to write something, you're probably sweating about the content, so I'll try to be brief.
I still find it so very hard to believe you're not here (physically) and I'm annoyed you never returned my last voice mails.
Your number is still on my speed dial. It has been for years.
Whos's going to shop at Kroger and help themselves to all the candy in the bins? Who will drop off "adult" items into older couples shopping baskets and watch them at the check out counter laughing out loud? What will happen to sales of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream? Who will harp on Alex to become a port-a-potty manager? Who will walk into a classy restaurant and make loud animal sounds? Who???
There were alot of flowers at your Memorial Service. When we would drive around, if a yard didn't have flowers, you would say, Can you believe that?.....Can you believe that?.....Can you believe that?.... etc.
There was also a great picture of you at the service. It felt like you were looking back at everyone. Rich took it - you were on a golf course. Imagine that.
You left behind a very caring, loving family and friends. I finally got to meet most of the family, after hearing so much about them. They meant the world to you. I know you regret working overtime and not taking all your trips and visits you talked about.
Everyone in this world is unique, Rick, but you fit into the group of "more" unique. There will never be anyone like you.
I know you always shrugged it off, but I have to say "thanks" again for being there for me, especially for all the recent times you bailed me out of the hospital. I'd be coming out of my anesthetic and knew you were there because you had the recovery room nurses laughing so much. I think you enjoyed impersonating a physician! I depended on you and THANKS!
Grieving is hard but the memories are full of love - we will all hold on to them. We went through a lot in 18 years - I still can't believe all that time. How fortunate we were.
I know you're at peace keeping a constant watch over all of us. I guess you got over your fear of heights. I hope they have enough food stamps in Heaven so you can buy all the chocolate buttermilk you can drink - boy, I never thought I'd miss hearing those requests.....but I was wrong. I miss you. Life will be different.
It already is.
Pray for all of us that are left down here. We will see you again, but, bye for now.
Love always,
Martha

I will miss Rick. He was one of a kind. We had a lot of fun playing golf together. An amazing man! I have many fond memories and glad that I had the opportunity to know him. My prayers are with the family.

I am both shocked and saddened to hear about Rick passing. Rick and I met and became friends in 1995. I always referred to him affectionately,as "barn yard" Rick, because of all of his animal sounds, as most have heard. We had plenty of good times. My heart goes out to all family members as I am sure this is a difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2007
TO THE ENTIRE "COMPTON FAMILY".
HELLO MY NAME IS: BRENDITA
"MARTHA FOX" OF HOUSTON,TEXAS IS
"MY VERY BEST FRIEND".
MARTHA - INTRODUCED ME TO "RICK" SO LONG AGO, I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER HOW MANY YEAR'S AGO. I WRITE THESE WORDS WITH A HEAVY HEART YET, FEELING SO "HONORED" TO HAVE KNOWN "RICK".
AS YOUR FATHER,BROTHER,UNCLE, GRANDFATHER, HE WAS SUCH A "VERY SPECIAL MAN". I CAN GUARANTEE WHEN HE ENTERED A ROOM, THE FIRST THING ANYONE WOULD NOTICE WAS HIS -
"BEAUTIFUL DIMPLED SMILE". NOT TO MENTION, HOW WELL "GROOMED & GOOD-LOOKING" HE WAS. ALONG WITH HIS SOUTHERN RASPY VOICE. HE WAS SUCH A GENTLEMEN WITH A WONDERFUL HILARIOUS SPIRIT.
EVERYTIME MARTHA & I WERE WITH RICK, IT WAS...NEVER A DULL MOMENT. I WILL REMEBER "RICK" BECAUSE, THERE WAS NEVER ONE TIME WE GOT TOGETHER THAT, HE DIDN'T MAKE US LAUGH! MARTHA & I WOULD ALWAY'S BE LAUGHING SO MUCH WITH "RICK". IN THAT, WE WOULD FIND OURSELVES TELLING HIM THINGS LIKE..."YOU REALLY NEED TO STOP" THIS WAS BECAUSE, WE WOULD OFTEN LAUGH SO MUCH THAT, WE WOULD EITHER BE CRYING OR OUR STOMACH'S WERE HURTING FROM LAUGHING SO HARD. YET, HE WOULD JUST KEEP GOING AS IF, HE WAS DISREGARDING OUR REQUEST. PROBABLY BECAUSE, HE LOVED TO TALK...AND OF COURSE, HAVE THE LAST WORD!
SPEAKING OF "WORD(S)", RICK SPOKE (ON-GOING)ABOUT "HOW, WHEN, & WHERE" HE WOULD EVENTUALLY RETIRE. IN FACT, EVERY TIME MARTHA & I SPOKE TO HIM, (BE IT IN PERSON OR OVER THE TELEPHONE)...HE WAS SPEAKING AS "RE-WIND-THE-TAPE/
BROKEN RECORD". THANKS TO THE FACT THAT, "HE CONTSTANTLY REPEATED HIMSELF"! ONE COULD HAVE HIM ON "SPEAKER PHONE"... JUST SO ONE COULD ACCOMPLISH SEVERAL TASKS.
HE ALWAY'S ENDED HIS TELEPHONE CALL'S TO MARTHA...WE'LL I'VE -
GOT TO GO... "TO KROGER-AGAIN", YOU TAKE CARE, CALL ME IF YOU NEED ANYTHING,I'LL BESURE & CALL YOU LATER. "AND RICK DID"...SOMETIMES UP TO 3 TO 4 TIMES PER DAY!
"MARTHA & RICK WERE VERY SPECIAL BUDDIES" TO ONE ANOTHER. I AM SO "THANKFUL THAT RICK WAS ALWAY'S THERE FOR MY BEST FRIEND-MARTHA".
I WILL MISS RICK WITH THE GREATEST, WONDERFUL MOST OF ALL, FUNNIEST MEMORIES. BUT, NOT AS MUCH AS, MARTHA WILL. I TRULY AM SADDENED HOW MARTHA'S LIFE WILL BE WITHOUT RICK. AFTER SPEAKING TO HER TODAY; SHE & I BOTH STILL CANNOT BELIEVE HE'S PHYSICALLY GONE.
LASTLY,I WANT TO EXPRESS A VERY SPECIAL TIME OF US ALL CELEBRATING TOGETHER ON:
"THANKSGIVING 2006" MARTHA & RICK INVITED MY HUSBAND (DAVID) & I TO CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING. FROM WHEN RICK ARRIVED AT MARTHA'S HOME, TO THE RESTAURANT THEN, BACK TO MARTHA'S HOME...I HAVE TO SAY; HONESTLY, "LAST THANKSGIVING WAS THE BEST CELEBRATED HOLIDAY"... MY HUSBAND & I HAVE EVER HAD, WITHOUT ANY OF OUR FAMILY MEMBER'S"!
AT TIMES LIKE THIS, WHEN ONE LOSES A LOVED ONE, ONE GENERALLY HAS MANY REGRETS. I JUST HOPE ALL OF YOU, WILL FOCUS ON THE THE GREAT TIME'S WITH RICK.
THE POSITIVE THING'S I'M SURE -
"RICK" WOULD WANT EVERY ONE TO REMEMBER HIM BY. EVEN IF IT...
"MAKES US CRY, SMILE AND MOST OF ALL LAUGH".
MAY ALL OF YOU HAVE PEACE IN YOUR HEART, MIND, BODY & SOUL.
RESPECTFULLY,
BRENDITA VILLASENOR LESTER

It had been high school days since I had seen Rick until last year when he came to the Robert Sullivan Memorial Golf Tournament. I am glad we had the chance to get to see him again. He told me he would be back next year. We will miss him; he was a lot of fun. We had a good time together.

Dear Dad,
This past week has been awful, I still cannot believe you are gone! I cannot eat, I cannot sleep, I cannot do much of anything except dwell on the past and of what could have been with us and our family.
I just want you to know that I love you so much, even though as men we never told each other that, you and I both knew the love we had and we showed it by making funny noises with each other, you know what I mean : MAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW.
I'm SO GLAD I had the opportunity to see you this past year and a half and just hang around you PERIOD, we had some good times together!
I wish I could take one more ride with you in your truck and go on a sales call with you while eating some beef jerky and drinking some diet dr. peppers. To make me laugh, you could do what you always did and pretend to shift your truck like you had a stick shift.
There's so much more I wanted to do with you in life and share with you in life, but I can say I had some GREAT times with you and wouldn't trade them for anything in this world!!
I know Jazzy will miss you too, I want you to know last Tues. she said Grandpa when she was looking at your pictures with me and I know you heard it because I felt you smile down from above: so just know you will be GREATLY MISSED by your Grand-daughter!!!
I will hold my head high with honor and will carry on the name you gave me, Richard Carl Compton Jr. You will forever, until the day I die, live though me Dad.
My heart is broken but I take comfort in knowing that I will see you again one day in heaven, I love you Dad!!
God, you have brought my fathers soul back to you as you have commanded. God you ARE LOVE and ALL things are possible though you, humbly I ask you, please have mercy on my fathers soul and please forgive him for all of his sins.
I'm not saying good-bye because you are with me always, so instead I'll say:
"I will see you one day soon, until then Dad...I LOVE YOU"
Your loving son,
Richard "Ricky" Carl Compton Jr.
May you eternally rest in peace!!

My deepest sympathy for your loss. What a shock! I spoke with Rick recently and we talked about how he wanted to retire in Costa Rica and live like a king! He was always a gentleman, helpful and honest...I knew him from New Home Sales. He helped many of my homeowners as an honest business man. I will miss him.

To the Compton Family:
This has really come to a shock to me. I have known Ricky practically all of my life from grade school on. I lived across the street from him while we were growing up and were together all the time. I could write a book about all the things we did. I have placed some old and new pictures of him on our high school web site at : www.lobos62.com. This is a terrible loss to me and my heart goes out to his family and all of his many friends.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
