Robert Cayard Obituary

ROBERT M. CAYARD, 69, of Conroe Texas, passed away on November 3, 2005 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Bob was born June 27, 1936 in Champaign, Illinois, and grew up in Baton Rouge La. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and a loyal LSU tiger fan. He served in the US Air Force. Bob retired from Burroughs Welcome Pharmaceuticals in 1993 after 32 years of service. To celebrate retirement, Bob and Carol moved to Lake Conroe where Bob pursued his hobbies of woodworking and welding. Bob's passion and commitment to helping others was fulfilled when he joined the Wednesday crew of Habitat for Humanity. His participation in this effort brought him great joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; three sons, Bill Cayard and wife Michelle of Chengdu, China; Mike Cayard and wife Annette of Lakeville Minnesota; John Halstead and wife Ginny of Castro Valley, California; grandchildren, Drew and Nikki Cayard, John John Halstead and a granddaughter on the way; and sister Nancy Castillo, of Oakdale, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles Cayard and Edith Millar Cayard, and sister, Carolyn Cayard. His family and friends will remember Bob's love of the outdoors and animals, his woodworking talents, his sense of humor and his delight in telling a good joke. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Chapel with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Lymphoma Research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77120-4486 or to Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2624 Conroe, TX 77305-2624.

Thinking about you today Grandpa. I still continue to use the camping radio/flashlight you gifted me all those years ago. I´m starting to get into woodworking and really enjoy it as a hobby. May even even inherent some of your old tools from my dad someday! Miss you.
