Samuel Houston Obituary

SAMUEL "Sam" ASHCRAFT HOUSTON, 73, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 after a short illness. Born September 18, 1932 in Hartselle, Alabama, Sam was the son of the late Lewis and Letha Houston. He was a graduate of Aubern University in Aubern, Alabama. Sam was the president of Communications/Houston Advertising and Public Relations and most recently an Associate Editor of Houston Lifestyles and Homes. Sam was also a friend of Bill W. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Robinson Houston; step-children John McFarland Bergland, Susan Bergland Burke, and Robin Bergland Nolen; two step-grandchildren; brother Bill Houston of Birmingham, Alabama; and two nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a memorial service celebrating Sam's life on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at eleven o'clock in the morning at the Bradshaw Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston, Texas 77098, where a reception will follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in Sam's memory to the Moores School of Music, University of Houston, 120 School of Music Bldg., Houston, TX 77204-4017; the Houston Zoo, Inc., P. O. Box 4759, 77210-9862; or to the charity of your choice. Online tributes may be posted at www.bradshawcarter.com.
