Sandra Matz Obituary

Sandra Sue
(Smead) Matz
(1940 to 2013)
Sandra Sue Matz passed away on February 11, 2013 at Houston Hospice after a long battle with cancer with family by her side. She is survived by her daughter Dawne Jordan, sister Donna Castelli, son-in-law John, grand-daughters Nicole Marie and Jacquleyn Amanda, and her beloved cat Lilly. Sandra was born in 1940 and lived in the Detroit, Michigan area until she moved to Houston in 2000 to be closer to her daughter and family. She earned an associate's degree in accounting and later worked in the insurance business. In Houston, she retired from McGriff, Seibels & Williams Insurance in 2005. She had a great love of all animals and had a Golden Retriever, two Newfoundlands, and four beautiful cats during her lifetime. Lilly was her constant companion during the last few years when she was home bound much of the time.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday February 16 at 1 pm located at West University United Methodist Church, 3611 University Blvd., Houston 77005. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Houston Hospice or the animal protection agency of your choice.
