Stephen Davis Obituary

Stephen (Steve) Lewis Davis
1958-2018
Steve passed peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Born in Houston, TX, Steve was the son of Stanley and Lucille Davis. After earning an electrical engineering degree at the University of Houston, Steve worked at Texas Instruments for nine years. Along with two other engineers, he left TI and founded Davis, Nussrallah, & Associates, which designed custom computer chips. Steve became sole owner as the company changed to DEI, then later to Oasix. Eventually, Oasix was sold to TI, and Steve retired, devoting himself to friends and family, earning his pilot's license, and travelling extensively.
Steve enjoyed Astros baseball, college sports, and arts performances. He was generous in many ways to several organizations, including working diligently to develop and construct Austin's Long Center, serving as chairman of the Austin Lyric Opera, and sponsoring many University of Houston athletes.
Steve was preceded in death by his older son, Adam; and younger brother, Randy. He is survived by wife of 47 years, Sherry Lynn (Hunter) Davis; son, Andrew Davisson and daughter-in-law William; brother, Stanley and his wife Sandee; nephews and nieces, Tim, Doug, Jenna, Amy, Samantha, Lacie; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Long Center's Kodosky Lounge, located at 1701 W. Riverside Dr., Austin, TX 78704. More information at www.tributes.com/steve-davis

Lynn,
Our hearts are with you and Andrew and his wife. Steve was one of a kind, so bright and such a great leader. We four have many fond memories of fun times together, including college, early marriage, and as guests at some of your Opera Balls. You can always be so proud of all he accomplished. It was so special to visit him last June and get to tell him we loved him. James said the service was very special. Steve will be missed! Love, Kathy Courtland PS: I posted several fraternity photos under Community photos on this site and on Steve's facebook page. Those tailgates Steve organized were so great!
