Tyrone Greer Obituary

Tyrone L. Greer
1950-2014
REFLECTIONS OF
TYRONE L. GREER
To my wife, companion, friend, and caretaker, Sandra T. Greer, always and forever: Thank you for being there throughout my battle with cancer and when I took my last breath on Sunday, December 21, 2014.
Also to my family, friends, and associates: Death is nothing at all; I have just slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name; Speak to me in the way you always used. Put no difference into your tone; Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh, as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be forever the household word it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant; it is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again! All is well.
Tyrone L. Greer was a member of the Church of Christ @ Palm Center under the ministers Dwight Gibbs and Derek Greene. He was a graduate of Evan E. Worthing High School and attended Texas Southern University. He retired from the United Post Office as a supervisor/manager. He will be missed by his dear wife, family, and friends that spent time traveling with him to play golf and bowl.
A special thanks to the members of the Church of Christ @ Palm Center, MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, and Houston Hospice. Special gratitude to the Director of Pharmacy, Brian Steger; Supervisor of the Gulf Coast Area, Dr. Weltha Creasman; and team at Parallon where Sandra Greer is a COE\WFH Pharmacist.
Deke Stephens, Gerald Ellis, Renaldo Thompson, William (Roy) Greer Jr. and Ed Jordan your support and friendship was invaluable.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Houston Hospice in Tyrone L. Greer's name.

I have known Tyrone for more than 15 years. When I first arrived in Houston, Tyrone was one of the first golfers I met. He introduced me to the courses in the area and my sphere of golfing contacts increased greatly. The thing I remember most about Tyrone was the fact we always kidded him about being born on the South-side of Houston and spent most of his life there. We took a trip to Hilton Head, S. Carolina. On one hole, there was a body of water a few yards from the green. I said, "Tyrone that is the Atlantic Ocean." He walked down to the edge of the Ocean and stared out over the expanse. It took us more than 15 minutes to get him refocused. I believe he is in Heaven staring down upon us today. Rest in peace friend.

To Nicole, Tynette and Tessa, I know it's not easy saying goodbye to a parent. Your Dad loved you and enjoyed being your father. He if free from the troubles of this world, and his spirit with being traveling with you where ever you go. Remember to stay in the presence of God, because that's where your dad is. May God bless you and the Greer/Harvey families in this season. Love you all.
