Ursula Jiménez Obituary

Ursula Jiménez
04/04/1937 - 01/24/2023
Ursula Kunze Jiménez was born in Ottmachau, Silesia/Poland, on the 4th of April 1937, and passed away while surrounded by family the evening of Tuesday, the 24th of January 2023, in Houston. She was 85 years of age.
In 1964, Ursula and her daughter, Andrea, moved with the Ducommun family, whom Ursula was an au pair for, from West Germany to Canada. The following year, the Ducommuns, Ursula, and Andrea moved to Houston. In Houston, Ursula focused on her career, Andrea's education, and an occasional trip to the beach. Ursula was an incredible mother that constantly encouraged her daughter to follow her dreams and passions. They had a mother-daughter bond more powerful than any other.
Ursula met Angel Jiménez in Houston, and they married on the 23rd of July 1971, joining together their two families. They even took their children on their honeymoon to Padre Island. Together they ran McLean Cargo Specialists, Inc. for forty years. Ursula's business savvy, quick wit, and unique ability to understand and be compassionate to everyone she worked with made her the backbone of the day-to-day operations of a successful business.
Following retirement, she immersed herself in her family. She spent many weekends and nights cheering on her grandchildren at their sports games and other events. She enjoyed visiting their farm in Burton and most of all, spending time reading a book in the sunshine on Galveston beach. These places are where she felt most at peace. Many holidays were spent in these homes where Ursula always made sure the table was properly set with beautiful China and delicious food. She always embraced "the more the merrier" philosophy, even when it came to pets. There were many times more dogs were present than people.
Ursula was an amazing matriarch to her family and always stressed the importance of spending time and caring for one another. She had one of the most generous spirits, always making sure others were cared for before herself.
Ursula is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Barbara, Christa, and Maria; and stepson, Casanova. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Angel; daughter, Andrea (Michael Falls); and stepdaughters, Andrea Jiménez and Susan Linke. Ursula is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayden Hulings (Megan), Brandon Hulings, Alexander Tucker, and Elena Tucker, and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Mallory. She additionally leaves numerous nieces, nephews, including Michael Paletta (Simone), and other family members, along with lifelong friends, including Ana Katsaras for almost 50 years and Maribel Brizuela, who assisted Ursula and Angie with their everyday needs for nearly 10 years.
The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 2nd of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Ursula during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
KINDLY NOTE: For those unable to attend the service, virtual attendance may be accessed by visiting her online memorial tribute at GeoHLewis.com and selecting the "Join Livestream" icon on the service section. While there, you may also share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with Mrs. Jiménez's family by selecting the "Add A Memory" icon.
In lieu of customary remembrances, and for those desiring, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in memory of Ursula be sent to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486 Houston, Texas, 77210-4486; or to Browning Public Schools on The Black Feet Reservation in Browning, Montana, 129 1st Ave SE, PO Box 610, Browning, MT 59417

I worked side by side with Ursula for 24 years. She was a caring person and a tough lady who knew what she wanted but always took the time to explain her expectations. She set the groundwork for me to reach my career goals and to close out my career 15 years later. She also impacted my family both directly and indirectly with her graciousness. She will be missed.
