It was my pleasure to know and associate with Wayne while we were students at BUCM 1957-1962. We were in the same clinic group during the clinical years at Baylor. I knew him to be an outstanding gentleman,
an excellent student and firm friend. He will be sorely missed.

Dr. Dear,
You were very dear to me and you will always be in my heart and thoughts. I enjoyed every moment we worked together in the cardiac cath lab at St. Luke's hospital. I often thought of you since your retirement. You were friendly, funny, soft spoken, and so organized. You carried an air of sophistication and professionalism that I admired. I will truly miss you. My prayers are with your family.

Wayne and I have been close friends since childhood. He introduced me to my wife and was God Father to our son. I will miss him deeply but I will never forget him.

It is with deep sadness that I write these words in past tense. Wayne gained my respect as a fellow cardiologist when I had the honor of working with him in Houston. Over the years of our friendship he has embodied the qualities of a great physician whom I have always admired. He also was an ambassador for the "Texas social style" which he so elegently displayed to all who met him. I already miss his daily e-mails and social commentary. I looked forward to his Annual Christmas card with the ranch adventure letter and the picture of all his favorite four legged companions. I know all his family and friends share in our grief at his death but also in the joy of having known and loved such an outstanding patriotic and memorable Texan.
