Gauger, Doris J.

Doris J. Gauger, age 82, of 4809 Carstens Lake Road, Manitowoc, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

The former Doris Skattebo was born on July 12, 1932, in Valders, daughter of the late Corty and Sophie (Halderson) Skattebo. She was a 1950 graduate of Valders High School. On March 4, 1953, Doris was married to Howard H. Gauger in Wauwatosa. Howard preceded her in death on October 7, 2010. Doris worked for the Mirro Company retiring in 1997. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing bingo. Doris was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Howard Gauger Jr., Manitowoc; Terry (Holly) Gauger, Manitowoc; Debra Urban, Manitowoc; Sandra Gauger, Manitowoc; Larry Gauger, Manitowoc; Bonnie (Scott) Groelle, Manitowoc; Pat Groelle, Two Rivers; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters: Helen Schanke, Neenah; Lois La Fleur, Manitowoc; four brothers and four sisters-in-law: Orrin Skattebo, St. Nazianz; Orley (Marilyn) Skattebo, Manitowoc; Leo (Doris) Skattebo, Brillion; Glen (Bonnie) Skattebo, Milwaukee; Audrey Skattebo, Two Rivers; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Corty and Sophie Skattebo; her husband: Howard H. Gauger; two daughters: Linda Miller, Susan Groelle; one sister: Marie Skattebo; one brother: Leon Skattebo; two brothers-in-law: Richard La Fleur, Elmer Schanke.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave. Manitowoc. The Rev. Scott Hirssig will officiate with burial to follow in the Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Gauger family with funeral arrangements. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for all the care and compassion given to mom.
