Ann Huycke Obituary

Boise - Dr. Ann Huycke passed away January 14th, 2023 in Boise, ID. She is survived by her daughter Aruna, who lost a best friend that day, and by four brothers and a sister. Ann was born in Kansas City, KS, in 1954 to Mary Ann and Edward James Huycke. She earned her MD from the Kansas University Medical Center in 1980 and continued her medical training in KS and elsewhere. She married Jeff League in 1985. She traveled the world, including to India, New Zealand, and Europe and practiced medicine at an US Army base in Japan. She also studied the martial art of Aikido most of her adult life and achieved a first degree blackbelt in Tokyo, before returning the US in 1990. Her medical practice in the US combined ideals from traditional and alternative medicine. From 1990 until 1999, she practiced medicine in MO. From 1999 through 2019, she provided medical care to the Treasure Valley area of Idaho, where she helped her patients using a Naturopathic approach. Her clinic, Metta Health Care, was the first clinic in Boise to introduce breast thermography for early cancer detection. Ann was a confident and curious spirit, a listening ear, a wonderful mother, and an advocate for what she believed in. She is dearly missed.

I started going to see Ann when she was on Curtis Rd, before her Metta practice. She was best doctor I've ever had. We were more than doctor/patient, we were friends. I loved visiting with Ann through the years. I will miss her so much. I'm not sure how old Aruna is but it seems that I remember Ann was expecting when I first met her...I may be mistaken, but that is what I remember.
