Bob Platt Obituary

Bob Platt, 99, passed away at home in Nampa March 29, 2011.
He was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Parma, Ida., to Fred and Jennie Platt.
He spent his childhood days growing up with his brothers Norman, Fred, and Edward. He graduated from Parma High School in 1930. Bob met June Armstrong, of Wilder, in Parma in 1934, at a basketball game, and after a short courtship they were married. Bob and June made their home in Boise and built their first house there in 1941.
During World War II he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Gowen Field. We loved hearing his many interesting war time stories, especially the ones about working on B-17 bombers and riding with the test pilots over Boise.
They had two daughters, Jennine and Glenda, and in 1949 they moved to Nampa where they established Platt Auto Sales. Bob and June worked side by side in their business and built and operated a car wash until selling the property in 1984 and retiring.
June passed in March of 2005. They had been married for 70 years.
Grandpa Bob and Grandma June always provided a blanket of security and were always there for whatever the family needed. Some of their greatest joys were taking their kids and grandkids on many trips to the Oregon Coast, Disneyland, and other excursions. During his last years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards and telling stories.
He cherished his weekly visits from his pastor, Ron Rodes, his frequent visits and calls from nephews, Jim, Bruce and Fred, sister-in-law Frieda and their special friend Jutta of Washington State.
Bob leaves behind daughters, Jennine Hennessey [Dave] of Nampa, Glenda Thames [Leland] of Boise; grandchildren, Bob, Shaun, Jody, LeAnn, and David, and great-grandchildren, Jenny, Casey, Keely, Bonny, Emilee, Heather, Joey, and Paul, and one great great- grandchild.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife June, his brothers, grandson, Casey and great-grandson, Ryan.
The family expresses thanks to the nurses of St. Luke's Meridian.
Thank you Daddy. We love you, Jennine and Glenda. Godspeed, see you later Grandpa Bob!
Bob requested no services. A family gathering was held in his memory.
