Glen Stahn Obituary

Nampa - It was with broken hearts that we said farewell to our amazing husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa and friend today.

Roy passed away in the loving arms of his wife and family on Thursday April 20th at a local hospital in Nampa, Idaho.

He was born June 19th 1933 to Chester S and Lois Pearl Curtis Stahn in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, joining brothers Chester and Vernon.

They loved their life in Jackson but eventually moved to Caldwell where his father purchased the family farm on Karcher Road from a former Jackson neighbor.

Roy attended school in Caldwell and graduated with the Class of '51. He proudly served in the armed forces for two years during the Korean Conflict.

Roy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Roy married his sweetheart Loretta Darlene Fairchild when he entered the service and they would have celebrated Sixty Nine years in May. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Steve and Shannon, and a son-in-law Tim, and a daughter-in-law Jane that he treasured. These unions resulted in five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Upon leaving the service in 1956, Roy went to work for the Deer Flat Mercantile in Huston, Idaho which he and Darlene eventually purchased. He was with the Mercantile for 43 years before he retired in 1999. The Mercantile bonded them with friendships for a lifetime.

Life in Huston was a wonderful place to raise his family but after 13 years they returned to the family farm to care for Roy's parents. Here he returned to raising hay, cattle and horses in addition to running the Mercantile. He also raised some race horses, two of which were winners. He really enjoyed the trips to Salem, when they were racing there. He also enjoyed occasional trips to Jackpot.

Roy loved to hunt and fish, and treasured all the annual trips with his family creating unforgettable memories. Roy was also a vital part of a group that made annul hunting trips into the Sellway for years. This was a brotherhood that would last forever.

He will be missed and always in the hearts of his family and anyone lucky enough to have known him.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Darlene; his son, Steve and wife Jane; daughter, Shannon Sayers and husband Tim. Grandchildren, Melissa and (Chad) Garrett, Jaime and (Larry) Hefley, Lindsey and (Josh) Wilde, Beth and (Josh) McCarver, Dave and (Tara) Allen and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-laws, Myrna and husband Denny Wyman and Phyllis Stahn, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers Chet and Vernon and many other family members.

There will be a private family graveside services with a memorial scheduled for a later date. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel for their kind care and compassion.
