James Warren Frisch died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, after a brief illness. Services will be conducted at Cloverdale Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 11:30 with a luncheon to follow. Private family graveside services will be held prior to the service.
Jim was born May 1, 1926, to John and Ida Mae Offutt Frisch in Colorado Springs, CO, the nearest town with a hospital to their farm in Tructon, CO. He moved with family to Melba when he was 12 years old and helped on the farm while attending school. He served in the Army during World War II in the Philippine Ground Forces, receiving an honorable discharge in December 1946.
He married Dorothy Jean Huntley on April 24, 1949, in Boise. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999.
Jim worked for Boise Fruit & Produce Co. for seven years as a salesman-driver. He was with Olympia Beer Distributors for 25 years as a salesman and route supervisor. He retired from Sysco General Foods in April 1991.
He was known as "Teddy Bear" by his many friends throughout southern Idaho during his employment at Olympia. He never met a person he didn't like and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He took up golf after his retirement and would talk for hours about it. He was a member of the Senior League at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa and never missed playing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday when he was in town.
Jim and Dorothy traveled often to Tucson to visit their youngest daughter, Diane, and vacationed in her condo in Palm Desert many times. They also took several trips to Alaska, Branson, MO, New Orleans, Hawaii, Boston, the East coast and the Canadian Provinces.
Jim is survived by his son, Kent of Melba and Grandview; daughters, Kay (Dorrell) Hansen of Boise and Diane Frisch of Tucson; five grandchildren John (Dian) of Cove, OR; Brandi Naragon (fiance Brian Griggs) of Horseshoe Bend; Deanna (Jared) Farrens of Cambridge; Chris Hansen (Melissa Musucci) of Hailey; and Erin Hansen (Matt Fuller) of Sterling, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Maggie Jo and Patrick of Cove, OR; David, Alex and Marcus of Horseshoe Bend; and Logan and Keith of Cambridge; sisters Dorothy Hietala of Roseville, CA; Peggy Friddle of Melba; Joyce (Mick) Oswald of Cottonwood, AZ; four brothers, Jack, Frank, Kenny and Butch (Margaret) all of Melba; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, brother John, sister Betty Huter, and daughter-in-law Tangie.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 11:30 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise. A reception will follow the service.
