Joseph Luque Obituary
Nampa - Joe Luque, 83, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his home in Nampa, Born April 2, 1939 in Caldwell, ID, He was the only son of Frank Luque and Christine Stafford Luque.
The family lived in Nampa, and Joe went to St. Paul's Catholic School and graduated from Nampa High School in 1957. He attended Boise Junior College for a year, then enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Oklahoma at Fort Sill for two years. After returning home he worked for Amalgamated Sugar for a short time and worked with his parents building and remodeling many houses in Nampa. In 1963 he married Barbara Hintze and had 2 daughters, Mollie and Jill. In 1964 Dad hired on at the Union Pacific Railroad and worked there until retirement. He always had a side job and worked part time as a farrier and later did excavation work.
Dad loved to hunt, fish, boat and pack in on horseback to wilderness areas. We took many trips over the years to the Sawtooths and Seven Devils. We all learned how to ride and pack and live without amenities. He was able to take many trips with daughters, grand children and friends.. He took great pleasure in watching Tyler and Jeff rope at his house. He spent a lot of time in Montana with Mike and Jeannie Anderson on their ranch. Also many memorable pack trips with friends and family. He enjoyed winters in Costa Rica and later in the Philippines.
During one of the winters in the Philippines he met Mary Rose Pastor, and she came to the United States and they married February 6, 2013. We would like to thank Rose for the love and care she provided while he was ill.
He is survived by his wife Rose Luque, daughter Mollie (Jim) Lankford and their children Sam and Hannah, daughter Jill (Jeff) Hilton and their children Calli, Tyler, Mackenzie and Laura. He also has 11 great grand children.
We are having a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM, Sunday, July 17th at Jeff and Jills home at 3515 E Kings Gate Drive Nampa ID 83687. We would love for family and friends to come and have a drink and toast and reminisce about all of Joes exploits and adventures. Please come super casual and relax!
