October 24, 2018

It's October 24 (2018) and I've just learned of Peggy's passing. My first memory of Peggy is when she was one of the security monitors at the Northwest door of Hewlett-Packard's Building #2 in the late 70's. (When security staff were actual HP employees.) She sat at a small desk at the door, making sure that only HP people entered the building. She always greeted me - and everyone else - with a big smile; but don't even think about trying to get in without showing her your plastic HP badge with your name embossed on it. I was fortunate to get to know her and her mother-in-law, Donna, and her husband, David, when my brother and I became EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) with the Medical Quick Response Unit of the then all-volunteer Meridian Fire Department. Her mother and husband also volunteered there. Over several years Peggy and I pulled many all-nighters at the one-and-only downtown fire station in Meridian. Together, we responded to "I don't know how many" heart attacks, diabetic emergencies, car accidents, bar fight scenes, you name it... She was always the consummate professional that couldn't quite hide her irrepressible sense of humor no matter the circumstances - to good effect. She and I were also founding members of HP's Boise Site MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team). We enjoyed putting together mock drills to keep the MERT team's skills well-honed. I'm truly sorry to hear of her passing. It broke my heart. May the memories of her smiles and the knowledge of her compassion for others sustain her extended family. See you on the other side, Peggy. - Dean Stucker.

I first met Peggy through Idahy Credit Union and always loved seeing her smile. She was so very proud of Talon and her already big smile would get even bigger when you asked about that boy of hers. May her family be comforted and may she rest in peace.

Peggy was and is a wonderful person. She will be missed by so many. I had the privilege of working with Peggy at the Dept of Education. She was always so kind and willing to lend a hand. Her expertise in public school transportation helped so many students and school districts throughout the state. God bless you Peggy and your family.

Though I did not talk to her much, I do remember her sweet smile at con, seeing her cosplays always made my day. I remember my best friend once saying 'That's gonna be us when we're old'. Runnin' around cons in costumes and just enjoying ourselves. I'll still aspire for this. Though they're only words, my heart goes out to Peggy's family, she is a light that will be missed in the con community. And Peggy, wherever you are and whatever pain you went through, I hope you will find peace.

We met Peggy, Talon and Dave through the Hathorn family and the Grotto. She always had a ready smile for us. An infectious laugh. I remember hearing stories about the things she frequently won from entering drawings. Peggy, you and your family are in our hearts. We wish you peace, Peggy.

Her smile has its own glow

Back when I was just graduated from Mountain Home I felt a little lost, I traveled to Boise to attend an Anime Convention, my first one! I saw Peggy dressed as one of my favorite characters from a Miyazaki Film and instantly felt welcome; she was so friendly and happy to talk to other attendees! Peggy has attended every year as one of these memorable characters and was truly an inspiration and a pleasant part of the convention scene. We will deeply miss her presence.
